WGOM Fitness: October 12, 2012, Goodbye, Old “Friend”

Another milestone here on the weight loss plan.

This morning, my BMI fell below 30 for the first time in over 10 years, for sure, and thus I am no longer clinically obese. Goodbye to that tag. And good riddance. My scale purports to measure body fat percentage and I've been under 30% for some time now, but this was a day I had been shooting at for awhile and now it's here. Just 80 days of intense focus on diet and exercise and I made it.

People are starting to notice. I ran into a guy that I used to work with and hadn't seen for a couple of months. He was shocked enough to IM me later in the day and ask me what was going on with my weight. I wore a shirt yesterday that was an XL instead of a XXL and I think that really looked good on me and had a little slimming effect.

I got home last night, went to bed, and hauled my carcass to the gym this morning. I went on the bike for 30 minutes instead of the usual 50, but I upped my heart rate to within 5 of the 80% cardio limit. So, it was a good ride.

Day 80
Weight: 242.4
Total Loss: 42.1
BMI: 29.89

  1. I went to rugby practice for the first time in too long. It was great to get back out there. It takes me awhile to get settled into new teams, and there's only one more week in the season, but should be a great week.

  2. It just dawned on me that I'll miss the second hour of BAL-NYY when I get Skim from school, and I'll miss the second half of STL-WAS when I take the girls to Goodyear Ballpark for a movie. It's cruel irony that I'll miss a deciding playoff game while watching a movie at a baseball stadium.

On the upside, I can still see the other six hours of the Orioles-Yankees.
