VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

ZULIA 10, ARAGUA 3 IN ARAGUA

TwinsOswaldo Arcia pinch-hit and struck out for Aragua.  Cesar Ciurcina surrendered four runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one in 2.2 innings for Aragua.

Game summary:  Zulia scored four runs in the first and led 9-0 after three innings.

Zulia:  Jose Flores (San Francisco) was 4-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer, driving in four.  Freddy Galvis (Philadelphia) was 4-for-5 with a two-run homer.  Alexander Torres struck out four in three shutout innings.

Aragua:  Edgardo Alfonzo and Alex Romero were each 2-for-4 with a double.

MARGARITA 7, LA GUAIRA 4 IN LA GUAIRA

TwinsAaron Hicks was 1-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one, for Margarita.  Sean Burroughs was 1-for-4 with a walk and drove in two for Margarita.

Game summary:  Margarita scored three in the ninth to break a 4-4 tie.  Hicks and Burroughs each singled in the inning, with Hicks driving in the go-ahead run and Burroughs driving in Hicks with an insurance run.

Margarita:  Luis Chirinos struck out six in 2.2 scoreless innings.

La Guaira:  Cesar Suarez was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.

MAGALLANES 6, LARA 4 IN MAGALLANES

Game summary:  Magallanes led 4-0 after four innings and held on to win.

Lara:  Tyson Gillies was 3-for-4 with a triple.  Romulo Sanchez worked two shutout innings.

Magallanes:  Carlos Maldonado was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.  Sergio Perez allowed one run on four hits in five innings.

ANZOATEGUI 1, CARACAS 0 IN ANZOATEGUI

Game summary:  Anzoategui scored a run in the first inning on a double and a single and that was it.

Caracas:  Brandon Barnes was 2-for-4.  Yulman Ribeiro worked 2.1 scoreless innings.

Anzoategui:  Jose Castillo was 3-for-4 and drove in the only run of the game.  Ramon A. Ramirez pitched 5.1 shutout innings.
