Three Twins pitchers lead the Javelinas to victory.

PEORIA 9, MESA 2 IN MESA

TwinsEvan Bigley was 0-for-4 and struck out once.  Logan Darnell gave up one run on two hits and no walks while striking out two in two innings.  Michael Tonkin threw two shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out two.  Caleb Thielbar gave up one hit and no walks in a scoreless inning.

Game summary:  The Javelinas led 2-1 after four, then scored six in the fifth to put the game away.  Nick Franklin (Seattle) hit a three-run homer in the inning.

Javelinas:  Jeudy Valdez (San Diego) was 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple, scoring three times and driving in one.  Cody Asche (Philadelphia) was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.

Mesa:  Matt Szczur (Cubs) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Bobby Borchering (Houston) was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once.

SURPRISE 4, SCOTTSDALE 0 IN SURPRISE

Game summary:  The Saguaros scored twice in the first and were never threatened.

Scottsdale:  Tyler Holt (Cleveland) was 2-for-2 with a walk.  Matt Curry (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4.

Surprise:  Whit Merrifield (Kansas City) was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Justin Marks (Kansas City) struck out three in three shutout innings.

SALT RIVER 4, PHOENIX 2 IN PHOENIX (10 INNINGS)

Game summary:  Matt hew Skole (Washington) delivered a two-run single with two out in the tenth to drive in the go-ahead runs.

Salt River:  Skole was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Brian Goodwin (Washington) was 2-for-5 with two doubles and scored twice.

Phoenix:  Shawn Havliand (Oakland) gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk in four innings.
