[There should be a "pitching stats" setting in excel, where you can type in 684.1 and it knows this means 684 1/3.]

    1. Fun note: both of these starters are older than me.
How many more playoff starts will that happen in?

  2. In the 2006 ALCS, Scutters had a .133 OPS,
In the 2012 NLCS, Scutters has a .979 OPS.
    This Season: .753
    Career: .731

Is he in a Punto-locked-in mode? When will he turn back into a pumpkin?

  3. So if the Giants hold on to win, that will make 6 playoff series so far of which 5 went the distance and 3 were sweeps!

    1. The Dulcet tones of Joe Buck answer me:
      Lohse and Cain.
Cards were probably hoping that the Greatest Cardinal Ever would be able to start the first game of the World Series, but there's a reason people buy insurance policies.

  4. you know, I am not disliking Joe Buck this series. He seems engaged in the game (my biggest gripe about Buck is that he sounds so disinterested in the game). Maybe because the Cardinals are involved.
    He needs a new analyst.

    1. The only reason I will ever need to dislike Joe Buck: "That is a disgusting act."

Kept him on mute ever since.

  5. I don't think my boss is going to be in a super great mood tomorrow, considering this game in combination with him taking Friday off to attend the game that night. I may have to find reasons to be away from my desk.

  6. In Gameday, the boxscore has "Carpenter, M, 1B" batting second, and "Carpenter, P" batting ninth.
Why doesn't he get an initial?

      1. Is this based on seniority?
I see Yadier, Miller, Robinson, and Panda have initials, and it's "Mijares, Jo", and "Lopez, Ja".
But Casilla, Boggs, and Blanco do not have initials.

  7. Beltrán donger here would make this game very interesting.
    Would've made. Too late.
Former Royal strikes out former Royal.

  8. whatever Brian Wilson was doing (rally bongos on other pitchers heads?), it was pretty funny

  9. 5 runs down going into the top of the ninth on the road? Really setting up nicely here for Cards.
