Puerto Rican Palaver: Games of 11/8

Yes, that's a lame title.  I'm open to a better one.

MAYAGUEZ 5, CAROLINA 1 IN MAYAGUEZ

TwinsKennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly.  Daniel Ortiz was 0-for-2 with a walk and scored once.

Game summary:  Mayaguez scored two in the sixth to take the lead and three in the seventh to take control.

Carolina:  Deinys Suarez worked 3.2 hitless innings, walking two.  Pedro Valdes was 3-for-4.

Mayaguez:  Ryan Dennick (Kansas City) pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and a walk.  Adonis Garcia (Yankees) hit a home run.

SANTURCE 7, PONCE 5 IN PONCE

TwinsAngel Morales (Ponce) was with 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk, and two RBIs.  Josue Montanez (Ponce) gave up an unearned run on a hit and a walk in two innings.

Game summary:  Santurce led 4-0 after two.  They never lost the lead, although Ponce twice cut the margin to one.

Santurce:  Miguel A. Martinez struck out four in three shutout innings, allowing only one hit.  Neftali Soto (Cincinnati) was 2-for-5.

Ponce:  Jorge Alfaro (Texas) was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Jonathan Garcia (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a double.

CAGUAS 3, MANATI 2 IN CAGUAS

Game summary:  Caguas led 3-0 after seven.  Manati scored both runs in the eighth.

Manati:  Ruben Gotay was 1-for-2 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Raymar Diaz worked two hitless innings, walking one.

Caguas:  Anthony Renaudo (Boston) struck out three in three hitless innings, walking one.  Rey Navarro (Kansas City) was 2-for-4.
