All the Twins batters did well.

CAGUAS 6, MAYAGUEZ 5 IN CAGUAS

TwinsKennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was used as a pinch-hitter and was 1-for-1, scoring once.  Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.

Game summaryOrtiz hit a two-run single in the ninth to tie the score, but Caguas got three consecutive two-out singles in the bottom of the ninth to win.

Mayaguez:  Angelo Gumbs (Yankees) and Martin Maldonado (Milwaukee) each hit a home run.

Caguas:  Johnny Monell (San Francisco) was 2-for-3 with a home run and two walks, scoring twice and driving in two.  Ramon Castro was 3-for-4 and scored once.

SANTURCE 5, MANATI 4 IN MANATI

TwinsNelvin Fuentes (Santurce) started and pitched two innings, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk.

Game summary:  Santurce led 5-2 after seven.  Manati scored twice in the eighth but never got the tying run on base.

Santurce:  Orlando Mercado was 3-for-3 with a double and a run.  Geraldo Valentin was 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice.

Manati:  Edwin Maysonet was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Brahiam Maldonado hit a home run and had two RBIs.

CAROLINA 3, PONCE 1 IN CAROLINA

TwinsJosue Montanez (Ponce) retired the only man he faced.

Game summary:  Carolina led 2-1 after three.  It stayed that way until the seventh, when Carolina added an insurance run.

Ponce:  Ryan Tatusko (Washington) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks.  Henry Ramos (Boston) singled and walked.

Carolina:  Willie Collazo (Toronto) allowed one run on six hits and a walk in 6.1 innings.  Enrique Hernandez (Houston) was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
