A couple of good games, but not a lot to highlight for the Twins.

MAYAGUEZ 3, SANTURCE 2 IN MAYAGUEZ

Twins:  Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 0-for-3.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 1-for-3 and scored once.

Game summary:  Mayaguez scored all three runs in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.  Santurce scored one in the eighth and had the tying run on base in the eighth and ninth.

Santurce:  Luis Figueroa was 2-for-3 with an RBI.  Geraldo Valentin was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Mayaguez:  Ryan Dennick (Cincinnati) pitched 6.2 innings, allowing only an unearned run on seven hits and no walks.  Randy Ruiz was 2-for-4.

CAROLINA 3, PONCE 1 IN PONCE

Twins:  Angel Morales (Carolina) was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Game summary:  Carolina scored single runs in the fourth, eighth, and ninth.  Ponce scored its lone run in the ninth.

Carolina:  Gaby Hernandez struck out five in 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and five walks.  Ben Lasater (Miami) was 3-for-5.

Ponce:  Tomas Santiago struck out six in six innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks.  Nicolas Ortiz was 2-for-3.
