CAGUAS 5, MAYAGUEZ 3 IN CAGUAS

Twins: Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once. Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4. Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk. Nelvin Fuentes (Mayaguez) struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and no walks.

Game summary: Mayaguez led 3-1 after 4 ½. Caguas scored one in the fifth and three in the sixth. Miguel Abreu hit a two-run single to give Caguas the lead.

Mayaguez: Martin Maldonado (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Randy Ruiz (White Sox) was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Caguas: Aaron Bates was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Miguel Abreu was 2-for-4, scoring once and driving in two.

CAROLINA 5, SANTURCE 1 IN SANTURCE

Game summary: Carolina scored two in the third and three in the fourth. Santurce’s only run came in the eighth.

Carolina: Zack Segovia struck out seven in seven shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks. Leslie Anderson (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.

Santurce: Sergio Miranda was 3-for-4. Miguel A. Martinez pitched two perfect innings.
