  1. By "up here" I assume you're talking about elevation, because you're not from Australia.

    So, anyway:

Yes, we were that close; left of center, at the edge of the stage. Great concert, Johns!

  2. Awesome!

Last show I was at of theirs seemed to be largely in Dan Miller's hands (which was strangely rewarding). That was about a year and a half ago. Similar for you, or back to the Johns?

    1. I saw that tour as well, but didn't remember Marty or either of The Dans* being that prominent. It was a great show, and I can't help but think a little bit of that was due to it being only the 7th stop on the tour, so they weren't showing any burnout.

They played a great, with maybe Particle Man and Don't Let's Start being obvious omissions. I particularly liked the title track off their new CD -- very catchy.

*Flansburgh did refer to Miller as "probably the greatest guitarist in the band -- the jury's still out." 😉

      1. With a catalog like they've got, there's always going to be omissions.

Looks like they're coming here in June. Might have to look into that one. I don't remember how far into the tour they were last time, but I remember really liking the idea of a non-John member having some dominant influence, as it tends to suggest continued growth. And that's absurdly exciting.

  3. Rochester raised its spring record to 3-0 with a 3-0 shutout of Durham (Tampa Bay). This is the Red Wings second consecutive shutout. Scott Elarton pitched three innings, striking out four while allowing two hits and a walk. Mike O'Connor struck out three in two perfect innings. Caleb Thielbar and Bruce Pugh each worked two innings, with Pugh fanning three. Josmil Pinto again had a good game, going 2-for-3 with a two-run double.

    1. Time to promote Elarton: looks like he's still got it
      got it back
      finally putting it together!

      1. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about a world in which the Wild are capable scorers.

  4. And the Potter County Battlers finish seventh in the state tournament with a 72-62 win over Arlington. Not the way we'd hoped it would end, but at least they salvaged one game in the state, and we still had a lot of fun watching them this year.

  5. I caught the second half of Wisconsin-Indiana today. It cemented my distaste for the "tries harder/cares more" version.

        1. Gophers win on a PP goal 18:51 in the 3rd OT

both teams were gassed the last 2 OTs

  6. In case anyone's feeling it, there's another Play with the Prose season (creative writing, non-elimination) happening soon. Email me or comment at my site to join.
