SYRACUSE 8, ROCHESTER 7 IN SYRACUSE (13 INNINGS)

Batting starsClete Thomas was 3-for-6 with a home run, his third, and scored twice.  Eric Farris was 3-for-7 with a home run, his first, and scored twice.  Nathan Hanson was 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer, his first.

Pitching starVirgil Vasquez pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Tanner Roark struck out four in 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, allowing only one hit.  Eury Perez was 4-for-7 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Micah Owings was 3-for-5 with a home run and two walks.

Key inning:  The thirteenth.  The score was tied at seven.  Jeff Kobernus led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on an error, took third on a bunt, and scored on a single by Jimmy Van Ostrand to end the game.  The run was scored off Michael O'Connor in his second inning of work.

Pitching starsTaylor Rogers pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks.  Nelvin Fuentes struck out two in a perfect inning.  Corey Williams pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Chris Corrigan pitched four shutout innings of relief, allowing two hits and two walks.  Cody Stanley was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Stephen Piscotty was 2-for-4.

Key inning:  The fourth.  Leading 1-0, the Miracle came up with four runs.  Two singles and a walk loaded the bases with one out.  A Lance Ray sacrifice fly made it 2-0 and was followed by consecutive RBI singles by Eddie Rosario, Sano, and Kyle Knudson.
