Minor Details: Games of 4/26

Twins affiliates sweep for the second consecutive day!  A huge day for Adam Walker!  Miguel Sano hits his ninth!

ROCHESTER 4, SYRACUSE 2 IN SYRACUSE

Batting stars:  Joe Benson was 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run, scoring twice.  Eric Farris was 2-for-5 with a double.  Chris Herrmann was 2-for-5, scoring once and driving in one.

Pitching star:  P. J. Walters pitched 6.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks.

Opposition stars:  Ryan Perry pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits and four walks.

Key inning:  The eighth.  The Chiefs had scored in the seventh to cut the Red Wings lead to 2-1.  Herrmann singled to lead off the eighth and scored on a Chris Colabello double to restore the two-run lead.

NEW BRITAIN 7, RICHMOND 4 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars:  Josmil Pinto was 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in one.  Dan Rohlfing was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Antoan Richardson was 1-for-3 with two walks and scored three times.

Pitching star:  A. J. Achter struck out the side in the ninth.

Opposition stars:  Jarrett Parker was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.  Andrew Susac was 2-for-4.

Key inning:  The sixth.  The Rock Cats trailed 3-1.  Richardson walked, took second on a bunt, stole third, and scored on a Mark Sobolewski single.  A single by Pinto, an error, and a Rohlfing single scored two more runs to give New Britain a 4-3 lead.

FORT MYERS 10, CHARLOTTE 4 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Andy Leer was 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run, his second.  Miguel Sano was 1-for-4 with a walk and a three-run homer (his ninth), scoring twice.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-5 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two.

Pitching star:  Nelvin Fuentes retired all four batters he faced.

Opposition stars:  Alejandro Segovia was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, scoring three times.  Shay Crawford allowed one hit in two shutout innings.

Key inning:  The third.  Leading 1-0, the Miracle put together a five-run rally.  The first five batters reached base:  Angel Morales walked, Adam Pettersen singled, Levi Michael doubled, Rosario singled, and Sano killed the rally with a home run.

CEDAR RAPIDS 13, GREAT LAKES 8 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Batting stars:  Adam Walker was 3-for-4 with a walk and his first two home runs of the year, a three-run shot and a grand slam.   Jorge Polanco was 3-for-4 with a walk and scored three times.  Candido Pimentel was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.

Pitching star:  David Hurlbut struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Jesmuel Valentin was 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, scoring twice and driving in two.  Pat Stover was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  James Baldwin was 3-for-4 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in two.

Key inning:  The fourth.  Great Lakes scored twice in the top of the inning on three doubles and a single to cut the Kernels lead to 5-4.  Cedar Rapids came back with six in the bottom of the inning.  J. D. Williams led off the inning with a home run.  Three walks followed, then Walker hit a grand slam.  Two singles and a hit batsman re-loaded the bases with two out, and a walk to Byron Buxton forced in the sixth run of the inning.
