BUFFALO 5, ROCHESTER 3 IN BUFFALO

Batting stars:  Evan Bigley was 3-for-4 with a double.  Chris Herrmann was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Daniel Turpen struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Tyler Robertson struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Moises Sierra was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Ryan Langerhans was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Anthony Gose was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.

Key inning:  The sixth.  The Red Wings trailed 5-1.  Ray Olmedo walked and scored on a one-out double by Chris Colabello.  A walk to Brian Dinkelman and singles by Joe Benson and Herrmann made the score 5-3 and loaded the bases, still with one out.  However, Bigley and Doug Bernier each popped up to end the threat.

RICHMOND 4, NEW BRITAIN 2 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars:  Danny Santana was 2-for-4 with a double.  Dan Rohlfing was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Curt Smith was 1-for-2 with two walks and scored once.

Pitching star:  Aaron Thompson pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Andrew Susac was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Joe Panik was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Tom Vessella pitched four shutout innings of relief, allowing no hits and one walk.

Key inning:  The third.  It was a scoreless tie.  With one out, Ehire Adrianza doubled and scored on Panik's triple.  Javier Herrera then singled in Panik to make the score 2-0.  The Rock Cats never got closer than two runs.

FORT MYERS 8, CLEARWATER 7 IN CLEARWATER

Batting stars:  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third), a double, and a walk, scoring three times and driving in two.  Angel Morales was 2-for-4 with a home run (his first) and a walk, scoring twice.  Miguel Sano was 2-for-5 with a triple and an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Taylor Rogers pitched eight innings, giving up three runs on six hits and no walks.

Opposition stars:  Cameron Perkins was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Maikel Franco was 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer, scoring twice.  Josh Ludy was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.

Key inning:  The ninth.  In the top of the inning, Rosario hit a seemingly meaningless home run, putting the Miracle up 8-2.  They needed it.  In the bottom of the inning, a double and Franco's homer made it 8-4.  With one out, Perkins doubled and scored on a two-out single by Harold Martinez.  Ludy then hit a two-run homer to make it 8-7.  Adrian Salcedo, who had given up everything in the inning but the leadoff double, rallied to strike out Kyrell Hudson to end the game.

CEDAR RAPIDS 4, LANSING 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Batting stars:  Jorge Polanco was 3-for-4 with an RBI.  Travis Harrison was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

Pitching stars:  Tyler Duffey pitched eight innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and no walks.  Tyler Jones struck out two in a perfect ninth.

Opposition stars:  Dalton Pompey was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs.  Kellen Sweeney was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.

Key inning:  The eighth.  The score was tied at three.  The first two Kernels went out.  Niko Goodrum walked, followed by singles by Polanco and Dalton Hicks to bring Goodrum in with the go-ahead run.
