Who you calling no one? We still outnumber the bots!

And I'll take the coffee black, without all that extra stuff, thankyouverymuch.

    1. I was already up and back to bed by this point. Yay for vacation.

Also I'll second AMR's preferences, assuming that "t" means "ton."

      1. I wasn't sure if it's about 1/4 teaspoon or 1/8 teaspoon, so I went with a more normal measurement.
So happy I don't have to cut sugarcubes.

        1. Since I'm being ultra-specific, it should be nondairy creamer, and the temp shouldn't be that much warmer than my mouth. I'm guessing 120F.

  2. Thanks for the pot (ahem)! I had a clopen yesterday and today with about eight hours total at home between shifts. Sleep was the only thing on my mind.

  3. Is anyone else having problems w/ seeing comments lately? There've been a number of times when I've seen "X comments" posted in the sidebar, with those comments in that feed, but when I click over to the actual CoC or whatever, I get an earlier version of the page (and not necessarily a version I've loaded before), without <X comments.

    1. I've seen that, but only when not logged in. I know what the problem is (caching), but it's hard to track down the details.

    2. This happens to me all the time at work but not at home. I can even post a comment and then not be able to see that it's really there. I have just been assuming it's some sort of issue with the browser I'm using and I end up hitting "refresh" a lot.

      1. What browser are you (and Philosofer) using at work?

To fix it in one refresh, try Ctrl-F5 or Ctrl-Shift-R.

        1. Firefox mostly. The reason I mentioned it today was that the normal fixes weren't resolving the issue.

    3. Actually, since you say it's a recent issue, I have a better idea of what's causing it. I set the HSTS time limit too low (or maybe just right). I will increase it and that might help slowly fix things.

  4. So is the Stick and Puck Hockey league finally, blessedly over? Is Ben content with having thoroughly dominated the league for the final two months, or do we need to find some sort of corn-based trophy for him?

      1. Thanks. Made some good moves and then mostly stayed healthy - no trophy is necessary. Tips on how to play fantasy baseball would appear to be in order though.

  5. The inevitable has happened in the sports world. That's right, Tim Tebow got cut today.

    1. Gomez was the only one to make it to the majors with the Twins

Kevin Mulvey was called up in 2009 and Philip Humber made appearances in 2008 and 2009. But I agree it's nice to see (apparently) better trades these days.

    2. Still don't think the Twins were the losers in the Santana trade. The direct results have been rather disappointing though.

      1. Given his season-ending shoulder surgery, Santana's been worth 12.6 fWAR from 2008-2013 and the Mets have sunk $136.6M into him over that time (including the $5.5M buyout for 2014.) Teams don't really make those deals for the average annual value, but on the hope that an elite player has elite years when the rest of the team is pretty good, but that still looks like a pretty crappy contract--you'd hope for more than 3 good seasons out of a pitcher signed to a 6-year contract for $20M+ per year.

For the most part, I think Santana's trade value was just overrated. He obviously had loads of talent, but he was about to get paid in a big way. His no-trade clause also seems to never get mentioned in these retrospective evaluations, but he could have vetoed any deal the Twins came up with if he couldn't come to terms with the team on the other end.

        1. I think because some players have had such cheap buyouts of their no-trade clauses, that it gets lost that Santana's no-trade clause cost $137 million. And the negotiation window had to be extended by two hours!
