Here's a recap of the rules:
- Rank the 20 teams (below) in the order in which you think they'll finish in the table
- Put this in the comments below. Please SPOILER your choices so as not to influence other selections.
- If you correctly predict the final position of a team, you get three points. If you are wrong, but within one place either way, you get one point.
- Correctly picking the champion is worth a bonus point
- Correctly picking the relegated teams are worth a bonus point each for a maxiumum of 3 points
First match of the year kicks off at 7:45E/6:45C AM this Saturday, the 17th. You have until kick off to get your picks in. As always, I'll have a Google Spreadsheet with everyone's picks so we can keep track of everything and I'll confer with sean about updating the sidebar scoreboard once everything's set up.

When does the season end?
Mid-May, 2014.
I predict that Clint Dempsey will play in the EPL from roughly Dec-Feb. I am unclear about which team will pick him up on a short-term loan, though.
With Fulham's new American owner, I can see no other destination for a short-term loan.
i stickyed this post to remind others (and myself) about it.
Thanks: I would have forgotten.
I'm shooting the moon! Also Jozy Altidore with 20 goals for Sunderland in all competitions.
Man, do I engage in another Tottenham-will-not-place-that-high bet?
After my post, I thought I was nuts. Glad to see I am not the only one.
I'll buy you a shirzy if the spurs pull that off.
I will not watch a lick of soccer and I know nothing about any of the teams. But I think it would be hilarious if I won, so:
Eh, delete hotspur and Albion. I created 22 teams
Fixed. The teams are "Tottenham Hotspur" and "West Bromwich Albion" The names just got separated during your shuffling.

entered.
Got mine. Just needed time to re-create last year's model.
Oh, why not.
I'm going based only on how much I like the logos that I saw when I pulled up each team in Google Images. I like a lot of the bird-based logos.
Oh, dear lord.
Yeah, I see I'll be bringing up the rear.
I suppose I'll make a proper list tonight, so as not to be a mockery.
I think I'll let you have 2 entries. This first one will be just for gits and shiggles. You can submit a proper one later. Im very interested in how this one will turn out.
Sure, I'll join.
I have no idea what this is. Sort of like fantasy hockey.
What did I just do?
This is just the prediction contest. If you want the one that's like fantasy hockey, that link is up at the EDIT. But either way, thanks for trying
Can I edit my entry then? Maybe I'll even get bored enough at work to look some stuff up?
Yeah, everyone can edit up until Saturday morning. Just drop me a head's up so I can update the spreadsheet.
Here's my update:
This might help with your picks.

I am excited to not finish last.
Signed up for the Fantasy league. I'm not predicting great things for my club.
I know absolutely nothing about the EPL, and in fact have never heard of most of the teams. Therefore, my prediction comes to you from a list generated courtesy of random.org.
Please, let this list be right.
It's got Everton and Fulham in the right spot. Plus, if it's right, then Jozy's going to be in Beast Mode for the World Cup.
Hey do your own picks, just don't copy mine! :o)
As much as it pains me to say
I did notice a lot of similarities at the top and bottom, but our mid-tables differ quite a bit.
The most common picks so far:
Hm, I think I win most unimaginative entry.
I assume this is the same conclusion everyone came to...
So, typically, of the three teams promoted, how many are relegated the next year?
Can someone give me a contingency table of promoted teams' persistency in the EPL?
Oh right, there's a baseball game too.
Since 92-93, of the 59 teams promoted, 27 have been relegated in their first season in the EPL.
Of the 64 teams relegated in that time, 50 of them were relegated within 7 years of promotion.
yes, I have a spreadsheet for this.
Duration of clubs relegated since 92-93 season (21 seasons)
27 relegated after 1 year (this year: Cardiff, Crystal Palace, Hull City)
8 relegated after 2 years (this year: West Ham, Southampton)
4 relegated after 3 years (this year: Swansea, Norwich)
4 relegated after 4 years (this year: W. Brom, Newcastle)
0 relegated after 5 years
3 relegated after 6 years (this year: Stoke City)
4 relegated after 7 years (this year: Sunderland)
1 relegated after 8 years
2 relegated after 9 years
1 relegated after 10 years
3 relegated after 11 years
0 relegated after 12 years (this year: Manchester City)
1 relegated after 13 years (this year: Fulham)
2 relegated after 14 years
2 relegated after 16 years
Chelsea - 25 years since promotion
Aston Villa - 26 years since promotion
1 relegated after 28 years
1 relegated after 34 years
Manchester United - 39 years since promotion
Liverpool - 52 years since promotion
Everton - 60 years since promotion
Tottenham Hotspur - 64 years since promotion
Arsenal - 110 years since promotion
Did one year only see two promoted teams? (why 59 not 60)?
How soon are relegated teams back in the EPL on average?
In other words: is there a tranche of 6-9 teams that are perennially on the cusp between the EPL and the AAA equivalent? Basically AAAA teams?
yeah they went from 22 to 20 teams after 94-95, four teams relegated, two promoted.
There have been 46 different clubs in the EPL over those 21 seasons (including 7 clubs that have been in every year)
Of the 64 relegated teams, 38 have made it back to the EPL.
Average time from relegation to promotion - 3.4 seasons.
16 back after one season - (3 could do it this year)
7 back after two seasons - (2 could do it this year)
2 back after three seasons - (2 could do it this year)
2 back after four seasons - (1 could do it this year)
3 back after five seasons - (1 could do it this year)
3 back after six seasons - (1 could do it this year)
1 back after seven seasons - (2 could do it this year)
1 back after eight seasons
1 back after nine seasons
(2 could be back after ten seasons this year)
1 back after twelve seasons - (1 could do it this year)
(1 could be back after fourteen seasons this year)
1 back after fifteen seasons - (1 could do it this year)
(1 could be back after sixteen seasons this year)
8 of those 64 teams are not in the Championship this year.
18 of the 24 teams in the Championship this season have been in the EPL in the last 21 seasons.
In the same time period, the most often relegated teams are:
1 team - 4 times (Crystal Palace)
7 teams - 3 times (Sunderland, W. Brom)
12 teams - 2 times (West Ham, Manchester City, Norwich City)
15 teams - once (Newcastle, Southampton, Hull City)
11 current EPL teams haven't been relegated from the top division since '93
i totally know what i'm doing.
I know it's not quite in under the buzzer, but in case yr feelin' generous.
Day one leader. That's about one more day than I thought I'd be leading.
