Sano hits his fourteenth in AA.  Buxton has three hits.  The Rock Cats get a split via a walkoff wild pitch.

NEW HAMPSHIRE 5, NEW BRITAIN 4 IN NEW BRITAIN (GAME 1--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting star:  Danny Santana was 2-for-4.

Pitching star:  D. J. Baxendale pitched a complete game.  That's the good news.  The bad news is he gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and a walk while striking out six.

Opposition stars:  Andy Burns was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, driving in two.  Kenny Wilson was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Sean Nolin pitched a complete game, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out four.

Key inning:  The fifth.  The Fisher Cats led 4-3.  Wilson led off with a single, followed by a Burns RBI double to make it 5-4.  In the bottom of the inning, Santana singled but was picked off first base.  That was unfortunate, because Miguel Sano then hit a home run to make it 5-4, which is where it stayed.

Prospect watch:  Sano was 1-for-4 with his fourteenth homer.

NEW BRITAIN 6, NEW HAMPSHIRE 5 IN NEW BRITAIN (GAME 2--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting starKyle Knudson was 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice.

Pitching starDakota Watts pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Gabe Jacobo was 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs.  Kevin Ahrens was 2-for-3.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Rock Cats trailed 5-3.  Knudson and Angel Morales hit back-to-back doubles to make it 5-4.  Following a bunt, Eddie Rosario doubled to tie the score.  He eventually scored the winning run on a pair of wild pitches.

Prospect watchRosario was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Miguel Sano was 0-for-3 with a walk.

ST. LUCIE 5, FORT MYERS 4 IN ST. LUCIE

Batting starsByron Buxton was 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in two.  Dalton Hicks was 2-for-4 with a home run, his third.

Pitching starNelvin Fuentes struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up no hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Kevin Plawecki was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Kyle Johnson was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.  T. J. Rivera was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Mets trailed 4-3.  Johnson led off with a single and Plawecki followed with a one-out, two-run homer to put St. Lucie in the lead.

Prospect watchKennys Vargas was 0-for-4.  Mike Kvasnicka was 0-for-4.

ELIZABETHTON 6, DANVILLE 3 IN DANVILLE

Batting starsJavier Pimentel was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Tanner Vavra was 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs.

Pitching starsHein Robb struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on five hits and four walks.  Andre Martinez struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and three walks.

Opposition stars:  Victor Caratini was 1-for-1 with four walks and a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with two walks.  Jordan Sechler pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk.

Key inning:  The second.  It was a scoreless tie.  Rory Rhodes led off with a walk.  Romy Jimenez hit a two-out single, followed by a two-run double by Pimentel and an RBI single by Vavra to give the Twins a 3-0 lead.

Prospect watchZach Granite was 1-for-5 with an RBI.  Zach Larson was 0-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and scored once.  Jimenez was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.

GCL TWINS 3, GCL ORIOLES 1 AT ORIOLES

Batting stars:  Alex Swim was 2-for-4.  Adonis Pacheco was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Pitching stars:  Alex Meyer started and pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Chih-Wei Hu pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.  Tyler Stirewalt pitched a scoreless inning despite giving up two hits and a walk while striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Dariel Delgado pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout.

Key inning:  The first.  Ivory Thomas walked, stole second, and scored on a Swim single to put the Twins on the board before the Orioles came to bat.

Batting starsCarlos Martinez was 2-for-3 with a double and scored once.  Dubal Baez was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Pitching starsJavier Vargas pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts.  Ramses Herrera pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk with one strikeout.  Jhon Silva pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Wendell Floranus pitched six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks with one strikeout.  Alex Mercedes was 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk.  Carlos Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once.

Key inning:  The eighth.  The Orioles1 trailed 3-1.  Randolph Perez came in to pitch and the Orioles1 filled the bases on a single, a walk, and an error.  Jhon Silva came in and issued a walk to make the score 3-2.  Junior Taveras then popped up and Byron Guerra hit into a double play to end the threat.

Prospect watchManuel Guzman was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Frank Encarnacion was 0-for-3 with a walk.

  1. You neglected to mention that the Wild Pitch New Brighton won on was attempted during an Intentional Walk. Pitcher threw it right over the catcher's head.
