Fall Festival: Games of 10/11

A good day for Eddie Rosario.  Apparently home field advantage doesn't mean much in the AFL.

GLENDALE 5, SCOTTSDALE 1 IN SCOTTSDALE

Twins:  Byron Buxton was 1-for-5 with a double and scored once.  Eddie Rosario was 2-for-5 with three RBIs.  Zach Jones struck out three in one inning, giving up an unearned run on one hit and no walks.

Glendale:  Andrew Heaney (Miami) struck out six in three shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.

Scottsdale:  Angel Villalona (San Francisco) was 2-for-4 with a double.

The game:  Glendale scored two in the first, one in the second, and two in the fourth.  The lone Scottsdale run came in the fourth inning.

PEORIA 5, SALT RIVER 3 IN SALT RIVER

Peoria:  Austin Hedges (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Orlando Calixte (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Chris Taylor (Seattle) was 2-for-5 and scored once.

Salt River:  Tim Wheeler (Colorado) was 3-for-4 with an RBI.  Kenny Wilson (Toronto) was 2-for-3 with two walks and scored once.

The game:  Jonathan Meyer (Houston) hit a two-run homer for Peoria in the fourth to tie the game at three.  It stayed that way until the eighth, when Hedges singled in Calixte with the go-ahead run.  Peoria added an insurance run in the ninth on an RBI single by Delino DeShields (Houston).

MESA 7, SURPRISE 3 IN SURPRISE

Mesa:  Steven Souza, Jr (Washington) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a double, scoring once and driving in three.  Kris Bryant (Cubs) was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs.  C. J. Cron (Angels) was 2-for-5 and scored once.

Surprise:  Mitch Haniger (Milwaukee) was 4-for-4 with a double and scored once.  Daniel Alvarez (Baltimore) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Michael Ohlman (Baltimore) was 1-for-2 with two walks and scored twice.

The game:  Souza hit a two-run double in the third and scored on a Wes Darvill (Cubs) single to give Mesa a 5-0 lead.  Surprise closed to 5-3 after six, but Bryant homered in the seventh and Devon Travis (Detroit) hit an RBI double in the eighth to put the game away.
