Fall Festival: Games of 10/16

A solid day for Max Kepler.  Can you can you call it a "pitchers' duel" when each team uses several pitchers?

GLENDALE 8, SALT RIVER 6 IN GLENDALE

Twins:  Byron Buxton was 0-for-3 with two walks and scored once.  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-4 with an RBI.  Max Kepler was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.

Salt River:  Stephen Piscotty (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a triple, scoring twice and driving in one.  Kyle Parker (Colorado) was 2-for-5 with a triple and scored twice.

Glendale:  Brian Cavaz0s-Galvez (Dodgers) was 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in one.

The game:  Salt River took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but Glendale came back with four in the bottom half. with Kepler hitting a two-run double and later coming around to score.  Salt River cut the lead to 5-4 in the top of the sixth, but Glendale again answered in the bottom half, scoring three times.  Pratt Maynard (Dodgers) hit a two-run homer and Buxton created a run when he walked, took third on a stolen base/throwing error, and scored on a sacrifice fly.  Salt River got two back in the seventh to make it 8-6 and put the tying run on base in the eighth.

MESA 3, PEORIA 1 IN PEORIA

Mesa:  Tommy Collier (Detroit) pitched three innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Peoria:  Chris Taylor (Seattle) was 2-for-3 with a double and scored once.  Japhet Amador (Houston) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Matt Heidenreich (Houston) struck out four in three shutout innings, allowing one hit and three walks.

The game:  Peoria scored in the first inning.  The run held up until the sixth.  Steven Souza, Jr. (Washington) hit a two-run single to put Mesa in the lead and a sacrifice fly brought in an insurance run.

SCOTTSDALE 2, SURPRISE 1 IN SCOTTSDALE

Surprise:  Michael Ohlman (Baltimore) was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double.

Scottsdale:  Aderlin Rodriguez (Mets) was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Kyle Crick (San Francisco) struck out five in three innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks.

The game:  Surprise scored one in the first and Scottsdale tied it in the third.  In the sixth, Rodriguez delivered an RBI single to put Scottsdale ahead.  Surprise put the tying run on second with none out in both the seventh and the ninth.
