SCOTTSDALE 2, GLENDALE 1 IN SCOTTSDALE (10 INNINGS)
Twins: Eddie Rosario was 2-for-5. Alex Meyer struck out three in three innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk.
Glendale: Tucker Barnhart (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Brent Keys (Miami) was 2-for-5.
Scottsdale: Robby Hefflinger (Atlanta) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run. Phil Irwin (Pittsburgh) struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks.
The game: Hefflinger's homer in the second put Scottsdale ahead 1-0. It stayed that way until the seventh, when Barnhart delivered an RBI double. Scottsdale led off the tenth with a pair of singles, but a double play took them out of the inning. In the bottom of the tenth, three consecutive one-out singles, capped by an RBI single by Alex Dickerson (Pittsburgh), brought home the winning run.
SURPRISE 11, MESA 9 IN MESA
Surprise: Henry Urrutia (Baltimore) was 3-for-4 with a walk and two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Joe Wendle (Cleveland) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Garin Cecchini (Boston) was 3-for-6 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.
Mesa: Kris Bryant (Cubs) was 3-for-5 with a double and two home runs (his third and fourth), scoring three times and driving in four. Taylor Lindsey (Angels) was 2-for-5 with a triple and scored twice. Jorge Soler (Cubs) was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
The game: Surprise led 3-0 after one. Mesa got four in the third to go ahead 5-3. After four, Surprise led 9-7. Mesa got single runs in the sixth and eighth to tie the score. In the ninth, Jorge Alfaro (Texas) singled, stole second, went to third on a fly out, and scored on a sacrifice fly to give Surprise the lead. A walk, an error, and a single brought in an insurance run.
SALT RIVER 5, PEORIA 3 IN SALT RIVER
Peoria: Chris Taylor (Seattle) was 3-for-5. Japhet Amador (Houston) was 2-for-4 and scored once. Cameron Rupp (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 and scored once.
Salt River: Stephen Piscotty was 2-for-3 with a walk and a triple, scoring once. Andy Burns was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Sam Gaviglio struck out four in four innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks.
The game: Peoria scored first, getting a run in the second inning, but Salt River took the lead with two in the fourth on a two-run single by Tim Wheeler. They stretched the lead to 5-1 in the eighth. In the ninth, Peoria brought the tying run to the plate with none out, but could only score two.
