Mexican Matchups: Games of 11/22

A Dennys Reyes sighting!  Another eight-run inning!

NAVOJOA 2, HERMOSILLO 0 IN NAVOJOA

Hermosillo:  Carlos Gastelum was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Dennys Reyes pitched five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Navojoa:  Alejandro Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run.  Genaro Andrade was 2-for-3 with a run.  Salvador Robles pitched six innings, allowing five hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

The game:  Gonzalez tripled and scored on a ground out in the third and Andrade singled and scored on a ground out in the fifth for the game's only runs.  Hermosillo loaded the bases with two out in the fifth.

OBREGON 8, MAZATLAN 4 IN OBREGON

Mazatlan:  Fernando Valenzuela was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.  Walter Ibarra (Cubs) was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Obregon:  Alfredo Amezaga was 3-for-3 with three runs.  Sergio Contreras was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.  Agustin Murillo was 2-for-3 with a run.

The game:  Obregon got three in the first, but Mazatlan came right back with three in the second.  Obregon scored on a double play in the sixth to take the lead and got four in the eighth to take control.  Contreras hit a two-run double in the eighth inning.

CULIACAN 15, MEXICALI 5 IN CULIACAN

Mexicali:  Ben Guez (Detroit) was 3-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once.  Chris Roberson was 2-for-4 with a run.  Cristhian Presichi was 2-for-4.

Culiacan:  Ricardo Serrano was 4-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Jorge Cantu was 2-for-5 with a walk, a double and a home run, scoring three times and driving in five.  Mario Valdez was 2-for-5 with a walk, a double, and a two-run homer (his second), scoring twice.

The game:  Russell Branyan hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give Mexicali a 5-4 lead.  In the sixth, Culiacan put together an eight-run inning, getting two-run doubles by Cantu and Serrano, and the game was not close again.
