Puerto Rican Publication: Games of 11/21

A big day for Daniel Ortiz.  Eddie Rosario hits his first Puerto Rican homer.  Sliding Billy Hamilton's four stolen bases aren't enough for Santurce.

CAGUAS 10, MAYAGUEZ 8 IN CAGUAS

Twins:  Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a home run, driving in two.  Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 1-for-5.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 3-for-4 with a walk, scoring three times and driving in two.  Ryan O'Rourke (Caguas) gave up hits to both batters he faced and was charged with one run.

Mayaguez:  Michael Taylor (Washington) was 4-for-6 with a run and an RBI.  Luis Figueroa was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once.  Jonthan Albaladejo struck out eight in five innings of relief, giving up two runs on seven hits and one walk.

Caguas:  Andy Gonzalez (Houston) was 2-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBIs.  Roberto Pena was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in three.  Andres Santiago (Dodgers) struck out four in four shutout innings of relief, allowing four hits and no walks.

The game:  Ortiz hit a two-run single in a four-run second for Mayaguez, with all the damage coming after the first two batters were retired, giving Mayaguez a 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second, however, Caguas scored seven times, getting a three-run double by Pena and a grand slam by Gonzalez.  Mayaguez came back, as Rosario homered in the third and a pair of RBI ground outs tied the score in the fourth.  In the bottom of the fourth, Caguas got the runs back on two doubles and a single.  There was no more scoring until the eighth, when each team tallied once.  Mayaguez got the tying run up to bat with none out in the ninth.

PONCE 6, SANTURCE 5 IN PONCE (11 INNINGS)

Santurce:  Jeff Dominguez was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Jack Lopez (Kansas City) was 2-for-5 with a triple and a home run (his third), scoring twice.  Billy Hamilton (Cincinnati) was 3-for-6 with an RBI and four stolen bases.

Ponce:  Rubi Silva (Cubs) was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Reymond Fuentes (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Christian Colon (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs.

The game:  Ivan De Jesus hit a two-run triple in the first and scored on a sacrifice fly to give Ponce a 3-0 lead.  Ponce still led 4-2 after four.  Ponce had a 4-3 lead with two out in the ninth, but Lopez hit a home run to send the game to extra innings.  Hamilton hit a two-out RBI single put Santurce ahead 5-4, but in the bottom of the eleventh, Silva's RBI single tied the score and Fuentes singled to drive in the winning run.
