Dominican Digest: Games of 11/24

A good day for Jorge Polanco.  Most things seem to happen in only one inning.

LICEY 2, AGUILAS 1 IN AGUILAS

Twins:  Danny Santana (Aguilas) was 1-for-4 with a run.

Licey:  Christian Bethancourt was 2-for-4 with a run.  Carlos Triunfel (Seattle) was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run.  Hector Noesi (Seattle) pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Aguilas:  Juan Perez (San Francisco) was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Juan Nicasio (Colorado) pitched four shutout innings, allowing no hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  Licey did not have a hit until the sixth, but they made it count when they did.  A pair of singles put runners on first and third, a sacrifice fly scored one, and a Yamaico Navarro (Yankees) double scored a second.  Aguilas also got its lone run in the sixth on a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly.  Aguilas did not get the tying run past first base.

ESCOGIDO 5, ESTE 2 IN ESCOGIDO

Twins:  Chris Colabello (Este) was 0-for-2 with two walks.  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 2-for-3 with a run.

Este: Mayo Acosta (Tampa Bay) was 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer.  Ricardo Nanita was 2-for-4 with a run.

Escogido:  Erik Gonzalez (Cleveland) was 2-for-3 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in two.  Wilkin Castillo was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.  Jarrett Grube (Angels) struck out six in 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and one walk.

The game:  With two out and none on, Escogido scored four runs in the second inning to take control of the game.  Three singles, a two-run double by Gonzalez, and another single produced the runs.  Este scored two in the seventh to cut the lead to 5-2 and brought the tying run to bat in both the eighth and ninth.
