Dominican Digest: Games of 11/26

A solid day for Jorge Polanco.  A Loe scoring game in Este.  It was close in Cibao as well.

ESTE 1, ESCOGIDO 0 IN ESTE

Twins:  Deibinson Romero (Escogido) was 0-for-4.  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 2-for-3.  Chris Colabello (Este) was 1-for-4.

Escogido: Pedro Ciriaco (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4.  Kameron Loe pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on seven hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

Este:  Willis Otanez was 2-for-3.  Raul Valdes (Houston) pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

The game:  The game's lone run came in the third on two singles, an error, and an infield out.  Escogido's best scoring chance also came in the third inning, when it opened the inning with two singles but failed to advance a runner past second.

AGUILAS 8, LICEY 2 IN LICEY

Twins:  Danny Santana (Aguilas) was 1-for-5 with two RBIs.  Dan Rohlfing (Licey) was 0-for-3.

Aguilas:  Hector Luna was 2-for-3 with two walks and a double, scoring twice.  Jermaine Curtis (St. Louis) was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in three.  Chris Cody pitched five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks.

Licey:  Engel Beltre (Texas) was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

The game:  Dan Black (White Sox) doubled in a run for Aguilas in the third to tie the score at two.  An error put Aguilas ahead 3-2 in the fifth.  Curtis singled in two insurance runs in the seventh and Santana had a two-run single as part of a three-run ninth that put the game away.

CIBAO 3, ORIENTE 2 IN CIBAO

Oriente: Michael Martinez was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Manauris Baez struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up four hits and no walks.

Cibao:  Maikel Franco (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Francisco Peguero (San Francisco) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Rudy Owens (Houston) struck out six in 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk.

The game:  Franco homered in the fourth to give Cibao a 1-0 lead.  Martinez hit a two-run homer in the sixth to put Oriente up 2-1.  In the seventh, Peguero hit a two-run single to put Cibao back on top 3-2.  Oriente put the tying run into scoring position with two out in the eighth.
