SANTURCE 2, PONCE 1 IN SANTURCE

Twins:  Jon Velasquez (Santurce) pitched one inning, giving up one run on no hits and one walk with one strikeout.

The game:  It was scoreless through eight.  In the top of the ninth, a walk, a stolen base, a ground out, and a wild pitch put Ponce ahead 1-0.  In the bottom of the ninth, a single, a walk, and a two-out, two-run double by Jonathan Rodriguez (St. Louis) gave Santurce the victory.

The game:  Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but it was their only lead of the game.  Mayaguez got two in the bottom of the first, two more in the third, one in the fourth, and put it away with three in the fifth.  Vargas hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning.  Carolina scored one more in the sixth, but Mayaguez quashed any thoughts they might have had about a comeback with a five-run bottom of the sixth.
