  1. flipped to the Gophers game on BTN and here Twins radio voice Corey Provus is calling the action. cool!

  2. Serious question, in who is better at their craft, in the prime, Kevin Love* or Joe Mauer? Joe's 2009 was for the ages but a basketball player can have so much more of an impact on a game than in baseball.

    *Love's tbd?

    1. I would trend toward Mauer because his numbers were so dominant over the next best catcher (McCann?) while Love is great, but he is just the cream of the crop/second best (depending how you look at things) over other PF's (Griffen, Dirk, etc)

    2. "better at their craft" is waaaay different from "had the greatest impact on outcomes".

Joe, in his prime, was one of the handful of best ever at his position, but just short of the very very best. 2008-10 he amassed 19.1 rWAR while catching 360 games. That's better than any 3-year run for Bill Dickey, Mickey Cochrane, Yogi Berra, Carlton Fisk, but falls a ways short of Gary Carter, Johnny Bench, Pudge Rodriguez, Mike Piazza.

Love hasn't been through his prime yet, so I'm not ready to proclaim him to be in the same orbit with McHale, Malone, Duncan, KG, etc. as the very best PFs ever.

  3. As much as I am enjoying this Heat/Pacers is on and a 4 point game in the 4th.
