    1. At first I was surprised to see Maddux not going in as a Brave, but I didn't realize he had quite that many seasons in total with the Cubs.

  1. Tried to launch the cribbage app this morning, and it's telling me that security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running. It's not a McAfee message. I'm running the latest Java version. Any idea?

    1. Their front page has instructions on how to change your security settings to fix this, though I haven't tried yet.

      1. I did reset my Java security as described (and validated my email address), but the app still is not launching for me. I just get prompts to download certain files for which I have (?) no application to run locally.

    1. I hope they stick with Hicks. I doubt he will ever hit for a high average but he can still be a decent player.

      1. I think whether or not they stick with Hicks will depend in large part on how he handles himself in spring training.

            1. It'd help if you ALSO had a link that actually worked so I had a good idea what you were getting at. 😛

not sure if Buxton is ready we're ready for Buxton yet

      2. They stuck with Dozier, who wasn't nearly as high a prospect as Hicks. Plus, look how long they have stuck with Parmelee and Plouffe, two former first-round draft picks with contact problems and neither of them is anywhere near as good defensively.

        1. Right. I think one bad year does not a bust make, especially when skipping AAA, and the Twins should know that. Everyone should know that.

    1. someone has to replace Ron Coomer.
Kind of wish FSN would find a player who played in the 2000s.

  2. Conquer Internet headline hyperbole.

[This] plug-in for Chrome, called Downworthy, translates certain common words in viral headlines to their more accurate equivalent.

    “Literally” becomes “Figuratively.”

    “Incredible” becomes “Painfully Ordinary.”

And my favorite: “Will Blow Your Mind” becomes “Might Perhaps Mildly Entertain You For a Moment.”

  3. Not that I'll get one, but YES!!!!!

    Phil Miller ‏@MillerStrib
All-Star bobbleheads planned as giveaways in 2014, Twins say, plus Ron Gardenhire gnomes. Also, throwback game wearing '84 blues.

    1. Holy moly. I know what I want for Christmas. This also explains why the front office couldn't pull the trigger on firing gardy.

    1. I was working on something like "Nephros Water Filtration? More like NECROS Water Filtration," but it was too dumb and I decided to spare everyone. You're welcome!

  4. Looking at the comments on any of the Knoblauch HOF postings is enough to make me cry. How in God's green earth can anyone question why Knoblauch was inducted and not Gladden? Knobby leads in EVERY stat, whether it's counting or SABR, and in awards bling of which Dazzle has none. Gladden has one more ring, but it just so happens that '87 and '91 were his worst seasons (below average) with the Twins, I doubt I'll see one reasonable argument contrary.

    1. I think at this point, Dan Gladden goes into the Twins HoF as a 'contributor' since he has spent more than double his Twins time in the radio booth than he did on the field.

  5. Have we discussed this Twins preview??

Alex Presly the projected starting CFer? Suzuki the projected starting C??? Uhhhhhh. Mauer "nowhere near the superstar he was five years ago"?? Mmmkay.

    1. Because TR.

"He’s going to be the type of guy who will make up a good combination with the other catchers we’ve got," Twins GM Terry Ryan said of Suzuki. "I would say he could get the bulk of the innings, but that will be decided as we go, depending on what Fryer and Pinto and Herrmann do."

        1. After the HR, the camera were in the middle of the scrum. I wonder who was screaming 'I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!'?
