Errors doom Sydney as Canberra advances.

CANBERRA 9, SYDNEY 1 IN SYDNEY

Canberra:  Ben Warner was 3-for-5 with a walk and a double, scoring twice.  Jeremy Barnes was 2-for-3 with a walk and a triple, scoring twice.  Steven Chambers pitched six innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

Sydney:  Trent Oeltjen was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The game:  It was scoreless through five.  In the sixth, however, Canberra took control with five runs.  A single and an error put two on and a single-and-error by Barnes scored the first two runs.  Jack Murphy (Toronto) singled in another, Michael Wells singled in one more, and the third error of the inning plated the fifth run.  Sydney got its lone run in the bottom of the sixth, but Canberra got the run back in the seventh and scored three more in the eighth to put the game away.

PLAYOFF SERIES

Canberra defeats Sydney in the best-of-three series two games to one.  Canberra will now take on Perth in the finals.
