    1. It's been amusing, but not as good as past seasons. The last two episodes are the only ones that felt like there was any continuity to the overall story arc. Too many vignettes, not enough long view.

  1. The Potter County Battlers defeated Ethan 65-54 last night to finish third in the state tournament. Good job, Battlers!

  2. "Willie said, 'You think I should go after that ball?' " Gardenhire said. "I went, 'No, not if you're playing in foul territory.' The next ball that was hit out there to left, I yelled, 'Hicksie!' "

    1. Who is Willie? Wilkin Ramirez?

At least Gardy is somewhat cognizant of the fact that Hicks has good range and that the corner outfielders do not.

        1. That was my assumption as well. One of these days the Twins will need to hire someone to create the nicknames for Gardy to use.

  3. I'm watching Stanford-Kansas. Are inbounders at the baseline not allowed to move in college ball?

            1. Aye, but I'm saying after that made basket, basically all pro players are going to run that baseline to get a good angle.

              1. there's that. But perhaps more importantly, nobody really runs full-court presses in the NBA, because NBA guards and swing forwards would obliterate the press.

  4. I got free balcony tickets to see the heat v. the pels last night. I assumed the local boys would get blown out of the water, but I was instead treated to a heat beat down. Good times.

      1. tell your wife how much money you'll save on charcoal and bbq!!!!

I filled my charcoal chimney about 2/3 full, then picked out briquettes to make the snake, leaving about 18 left in the can as my starter. That was the sum total of charcoal I used for a 3.5 hour smoke, plus another 10 minutes for the Girl's mushrooms.

        1. This.

Although, to be honest, I start 4-5 briquettes by turning my chimney upside down. Five briquettes is all you'll need to get the party started. It is easier to get 15 or so going, but I'm a cheap bastard.

Nicely done, doc. I find no reason to invest in any other grilling apparatus ever again. Now I'm off to make some souvlaki.

      2. I'll also add that I was using this method on my 18.5 inch webber with no noticed difference (except of course the size of the brisket....). Just FYI.

    1. I'm down with is idea, but the author's execution leaves too many areas open to possible contamination. The long, rambling comment with the cane sugar ginger beer recipe more closely resembles my idea of control. Now that I think about it I'm going to attempt a ginger brew with 3.5-4.2 percent alcohol.

  5. Gophers' reign in women's hockey ended by ... Clarkson? Minnesota has two national runners-up in two days with wrestling but came very close to 2 champs in 2 days. Men's hockey a No. 1 seed so should get to Frozen Four.

    1. I wouldnt count on the Mens hockey team going to the Finals.

Im cheering for the WCHA champs Mankato St Minnesota St Mankato

        1. Should? #1 seeds lose pretty often in that tournament. Going back the last 4 years, only 50% of #1 seeds have gotten to the Frozen Four.

    2. Minnesota gets much deserved flack for its ineptitude in the glory boy sports of Football and Basketball but overall the Gophers Mens and Womens Athletics programs are one of the best in the country. Ice Hockey and Wrestling are just the tip of the iceberg. Volleyball is consistently a top 10 program. For a northern school, Baseball does very well. Interestingly enough Gopher is a top program too. Women's soccer has come on lately. It's to bad Football and Basketball are the criteria eveyone judges the program by.
