Minor Details: Games of August 21

Max Kepler was grand for Fort Myers.  A brilliant start for Sam Gibbons.  Jonatan Hinojosa leads Cedar Rapids.

ROCHESTER AT SYRACUSE

The game was suspended in the bottom of the first inning due to rain, which leads one to believe that someone messed up the forecast.  It's tied 1-1.

RICHMOND 10, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN RICHMOND

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Ty Blach pitched 6.2 innings, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks with five strikeouts.  Blake Miller was 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs.  Ricky Oropesa was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs.

The game:  Richmond opened the scoring with two in the fourth.  The lead went to 4-0 on Angel Villalona's two-run single in the sixth.  New Britain got its run in the seventh when Tony Thomas and Brandon Waring opened the inning with back-to-back singles, but the Flying Squirrels got three in the bottom of the seventh, two on Miller's triple, to put the game out of reach.  Richmond added three more in the eighth.  The Rock Cats made five errors in the game.

The game:  Fort Myers got on the board in the third, but Bradenton scored two in the sixth on RBI singles by Jordan Steranka and Eric Wood to go up 2-1.  It looked like the lead might hold up, as there was no more scoring until the ninth.  A walk, a single, and a walk loaded the bases with one out and Kepler then delivered a grand slam to give the Miracle a 5-2 advantage.  The Marauders did not get the tying run up to bat in the bottom of the ninth.
