ARAGUA 10, LA GUAIRA 1 IN LA GUAIRA

Aragua:  Mike Hessman (Detroit) was 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks, scoring twice and driving in four.  Jose Martinez (Oakland) was 3-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Doug Mathis (Tampa Bay) pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

La Guaira:  Odubel Herrera (Texas) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.  Kendy Batista struck out four in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits.

The game:  Hessman's three-run homer in the third put Aragua ahead 5-0.  A three-run seventh made it 8-1 and put the game out of reach.
