Venezuelan View: Games of October 16

Good games for Aaron Hicks and Alexis Tapia.  Jarrett isn't a wild thing, but he makes everything Grube for Caracas.  A big sixth wins it for Zulia.

CARACAS 9, MARGARITA 5 IN MARGARITA

Twins:  Aaron Hicks was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs for Margarita.  Alexis Tapia pitched 1.2 scoreless innings for Margarita, giving up two hits.

Caracas:  Josh Whitesell was 3-for-5 with a home run and a double, driving in five.  Henry Alejandro Rodriguez (Cincinnati) was 1-for-3 with two walks and three runs.  Jarrett Grube (Angels) pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks with four strikeouts.

Margarita:  Wilfredo Tovar (Mets) was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The game:  Caracas led 6-0 through seven.  Margarita scored four in the eighth to get back into it, but Whitesell's three-run double in the ninth put it away.

ZULIA 6, LA GUAIRA 2 IN LA GUAIRA

Zulia:  Giovanny Urshela (Cleveland) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs.  Francisco Arcia (Yankees) was 3-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Yeiper Castillo (Oakland) struck out four in four innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks.

La Guaira:  Abel Nieves was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Juan Infante (Washington) was 1-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Enrique Gonzalez pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk with one strikeout.

The game:  Leading 2-1, Zulia scored four in the sixth to put the game out of reach.  Urshela had a two-run single to cap the inning.
