November 15, 2014: Scars Healing

My brother turns 35 today and with his marriage over and work turning out to be fulfilling, he's actually cleaning up his act and no longer looks like a lock to die young. I'm honestly surprised he made it this far sometimes, but he did, and here's to 35 more years, eh?

  1. I hope your brother gets at least another 35, Spooky. I've got a BIL with a debilitating meth addiction in the county workhouse right now. I dropped some clean clothes off for him the other day, he wasn't exactly dressed for this weather when the cops picked him up this time.

Also, because of him I've now had some close encounters with the courts and corrections, and I have to say I had no idea just how much of a racket our criminal justice system really is until he got caught up in it.

      there's a lot of co-dependency in there.

    2. I was aware how much of a racket it was, only because of me having previously been caught up in it. Luckily, I only had the one big run-in and my life's never hit a low point like that again.

  2. All right, Mr. NaCl took both boys out to Como Zoo this morning. I'm going to turn my music up real loud and . . . clean the house. Sigh.

  3. Hate to be super critical of college players, but man, if only the Gophers had an average passing QB they could have possibly won that game.

    1. He was actually second in the B1G in passing efficiency prior to this game. Of course, that's mainly because of big plays on play action with teams committing safeties to the run game. I thought they had to have a good game from Leidner just to be in the game. Instead, they got a bad game and they were still in it. After Nebraska gave up 408 to Melvin in three quarters, the Gophers should beat Nebraska next week and set up a showdown for the division title against the Badgers in two weeks.
