Dominican Digest: Games of November 10

Manny Ramirez (yes, that one) hits a key homer for Aguilas.   Oriente has a Fields day.  An eight-run inning for Este.

AGUILAS 6, LICEY 4 IN AGUILAS

Twins:  Chris Parmelee was 0-for-4 for Licey.

Licey:  Jhonatan Solano (Washington) was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer.  Dilson Herrera (Mets) was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Randall Delgado (Arizona) struck out eight in four innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks.

Aguilas:  Manny Ramirez (Cubs) was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer (his fourth) and a walk.  Willy Garcia (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4 with a home run and a double.  Liam Hendriks (Kansas City) pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

The game:  Elmer Reyes' (Atlanta) RBI single put Licey ahead 3-2 in the top of the eighth, but Aguilas responded with four in the bottom of the eighth.  Ramirez hit a three-run homer in the inning and Garcia a solo shot.

ORIENTE 8, CIBAO 6 IN ORIENTE

Cibao:  Maikel Franco (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his third and fourth) and three RBIs.  Junior Felix Arias (Cincinnati) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Erick Abreu pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Oriente:  Matt Fields (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his second and third) and three RBIs.  Jordany Valdespin (Miami) was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Manauris Baez pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

The game:  A walk and six singles plated five Oriente runs to give them a 5-1 lead after three.  Cibao cut it to 5-4, but Fields hit a solo homer in the fifth and a two-run shot in the seventh to put Oriente back in control.

ESTE 15, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ESCOGIDO

Este:  Eugenio Velez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-3 with a grand slam (his second homer) and two walks, scoring three times.  Tommy Medica (San Diego) was 1-for-3 with a home run and two walks, scoring three times and driving in four.  Raul Valdes (Toronto) pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk with three strikeouts.

Escogido:  Jordan Pacheco (Arizona) was 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI.  Brad Glenn (Toronto) was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Ramon Garcia pitched two innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits with one strikeout.

The game:  Este scored eight runs in the second inning and the game was never close.  The inning featured a grand slam by Velez and a solo homer by Jose Ramirez (Cleveland).
