  1. Younger Daughter wanted us to meet her at Brit's Pub on Friday evening for dinner. I didn't stop to do the math... Friday + Lent + fish &chips = 1+ hour wait. We ended up walking down the mall and eating at The Newsroom. They sat us next to a table set up for a large group, about 20 seats. Five minutes later the group arrived and it was the Iowa women's gymnastics team, in town for the tournament meet at the U of M. They finished fourth. Nice young ladies, though. Very well mannered.

  2. Quarter final knockouts coming up for World Cup Cricket:

Sri Lanka vs. South Africa (Wed nite)
India vs. Bangledash (Thu) India reigning WCC champion
    Australia vs. Pakistan (Fri)
    New Zealand vs. Windies (Sat)

Vegas is on Kiwis/Aussies, but I'm rooting for the Proteas (awesome batsmen AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla, and Jean-Paul Duminy). It will be a white-knuckle ride this week.

  3. There was a shocking lack of moon pies at the Metairie Saint Patrick's Day parade today.

    1. I'd have been shocked if either of them had made the team out of spring training. I hope we see them later in the year, though.

      1. Oh, I know. It's just that there are numerous players that weren't cut that those two are clearly superior to. I think the Twins just want to avoid as much controversy as possible by sending them down as soon as possible so fans don't get their hopes up that the players might break camp with the team. I still think Buxton is the Twins' best CF option right now but starting him in the majors this soon might stunt his development and delay his max value to the team. The same might be true for Berrios but the Twins have a bunch of money committed to SP and need to see if that will pan out first.

        1. That may be part of it. I do think there's at least some truth in what they said, though, which is that they want them to go to the minor league camp now so they can get more playing time and get ready for the season.

    2. Sano also has been told he's start in AA. Not sure why but he hasn't been "officially" sent down because of some technical reason not allowing the Twins to announce it according to the PiPress' Mike Berardino.

      1. Not all that surprised. Twins won't be real cautious with him since he's not an elite prospect but have talked like he's being given a legit chance to win the CF job. Given the success of Buxton and Vargas making the jump last year and the Twins willing to give the job to Hicks a couple years ago, I would have been surprised if he was sent down already considering how well he has hit thus far. I think Rosario is considered a prospect in line with those three. My concern would be Rosario, not known for his defense in CF, playing between Arcia and Hunter. That could get real ugly. That would also probably mean that the Twins would keep Robinson as a RH backup to the LH Rosario. Schaeffer would be a more likely backup to Hicks or could be a straight platoon partner with Robinson.
