  1. Went to a lovely Seder last night with our friends the Fruit Doctor and his wife, the Merry Jeweler. As you may have noticed, I'm not, uh, particularly religious. But the Haggadah we used for this service was rather inspiring, as it focused on the very best humanist aspects of Jewish ethics --moral responsibility to make the world a better place and to treat each other with dignity and respect. Very welcomed after a week of hearing about the deeply held religious rights of bakeries and pizzerias.

    1. I always find the message in Seder inspiring, but then I get bummed because so much of that message gets ignored. maybe this will be different, next year in (wherever).

    2. I'd never been to a Jewish service until a few months ago, a funeral for Mrs. Twayn's cousin's husband. Really nice guy, died too young from rare complications after a fairly routine surgery. The rabbi knew him and his family well so the eulogy and the whole service were really very powerful and moving despite the sad occasion.

      1. Went to a shiva (mourning session) of a friend whose mother had passed away. At the door, they asked if we were Jewish. We said no. Someone yelled back into the room "we don't have 10 yet". I guess they need 10 to make it official.

      2. I recently went to a service to support a colleague who lost his mother. that was my first experience in a synagogue. The memorial was very moving, and deeply personal. That was probably the beat celebration of a life I've ever been part of.

  2. College basketball ratings must be worse than I realized if C B S gave up rights to the final four to T B S.

    1. Dollar dollar bills is why it moved. But the Championship game is on the Tiffany Network.

  3. I'm at my mother-in-law's house for Easter this weekend. She has an old Super Nintendo in the basement. My son and his cousin are playing Kirby Super Star, meanwhile, Street Fighter II goes unplayed. It just makes me shake my head. (I also want to go to an old game store and snatch up a bunch of SNES games)

  4. Trey had a hit and a strikeout as the Diamondbacks fell 12-8 to the Angels. It was the same score as they lost on Thursday to the Giants. The Diamondbacks have now lost three in a row to the three teams ahead of them in the standings. Trey started Thursday's game at pitcher and couldn't throw strikes. My starting pitcher on Saturday also struggled to throw strikes. Those were the two I thought I could count on to throw strikes. They were two of the best at doing that last year. I'm going to have to figure out what's going on quick or I'll have to make some changes.
