ROCHESTER 7, LEHIGH VALLEY 4 IN LEHIGH VALLEY (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)
Batting stars: Kennys Vargas was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Danny Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Argenis Diaz was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Pitching stars: Caleb Thielbar pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit with one strikeout. Mark Hamburger pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits with one strikeout. A. J. Achter pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Brian Bogusevic was 3-for-4 with a run. Domonic Brown was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Cord Phelps was 2-for-3.
The game: Two-run singles by Diaz and Oswaldo Arcia in the third put the Red Wings ahead 4-1. The IronPigs tied it 4-4 in the fourth, but the Red Wings went into the lead to stay in the fifth, with the go-ahead run scoring on a wild pitch and an insurance run coming on an Ortiz double.
Of note: James Beresford was 2-for-4 with a run. Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a run. Arcia was 1-for-4 with two RBIs, his first hit since going to Rochester. Jason Wheeler pitched 3.2 innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on nine hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
ROCHESTER 3, LEHIGH VALLEY 2 IN LEHIGH VALLEY (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)
Batting stars: Josmil Pinto was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, his sixth. Danny Ortiz was 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Ryan Wheeler was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Pitching stars: Alex Meyer struck out five in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks. A. J. Achter pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Jordan Danks was 1-for-3 with a double and a run. Chase d'Arnaud was 2-for-4. Chris McGuiness was 1-for-2 with a walk.
The game: Each team scored once in the second. Domonic Brown singled in a run in the third to make it 2-1 IronPigs. Pinto hit a two-run homer in the fourth to give the Red Wings a 3-2 lead. The IronPigs had at least one man on in each subsequent inning and loaded the bases in the sixth, but the lead held up.

TENNESSEE 6, CHATTANOOGA 3 IN CHATTANOOGA
Batting stars: Carlos Paulino was 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Max Kepler was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Byron Buxton was 2-for-4.
Pitching star: Cole Johnson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Kyle Schwarber was 3-for-4 with a run and three RBIs. Willson Contreras was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer (his fifth) and a walk. Corey Black struck out three in two shutout innings.
The game: Paulino's two-run single highlighted a three-run second that put the Lookouts up 3-0. The Smokies came right back with five in the third to go in the lead to stay. Three singles (two of which were not hit hard), a walk, and a Contreras three-run homer did the damage. The Lookouts did not get anything going offensively after that.
Of note: Jorge Polanco was 0-for-4. Adam Brett Walker II was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run. Jose Berrios pitched six innings, giving up five runs on six hits and three walks with seven strikeouts. Miguel Sano did not play after being removed early from the previous game.
CHARLOTTE 5, FORT MYERS 4 IN CHARLOTTE (GAME 1--10 INNINGS)
Batting stars: Mitch Garver was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Niko Goodrum was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring once. Alex Swim was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Pitching stars: Ryan Eades pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and two walks with one strikeout. Brandon Peterson struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and no walks.
Opposition stars: Kean Wong was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Dayron Varona was 2-for-5 with a run. Willy Adames was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
The game: The Miracle led 3-1 after six, but Braxton Lee's two-run single in the seventh tied it 3-3. Garver doubled home a run in the tenth to put the Miracle up 4-3, but in the bottom of the tenth two singles and two errors brought home the tying run and Yoel Araujo delivered a game-winning single for the Stone Crabs.
Of note: Zach Granite was 1-for-5.
FORT MYERS 4, CHARLOTTE 2 IN CHARLOTTE (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)
Batting stars: Alex Swim was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Logan Wade was 2-for-3 with a triple, scoring once and driving in one. Marcus Knecht was 3-for-4.
Pitching stars: Jared Wilson struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on five hits with one walk. Todd Van Steensel retired all six men he faced, four by strikeout.
The game: The Miracle scored all four runs in the second inning on five singles, four of them coming with two out. The Stone Crabs scored both of their runs in the fifth but did not get the tying run on base.
Of note: Engelb Vielma was 2-for-4 with a run. Zach Granite was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Byran Haar was 0-for-3 with a walk.
CEDAR RAPIDS 9, SOUTH BEND 5 IN SOUTH BEND
Batting stars: Alex Real was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Tanner English was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Edgar Corcino was 1-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.
Pitching stars: None.
Opposition stars: Gioskar Amaya was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer, his second. Kevin Encarnacion was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Charcer Burks was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once
The game: Amaya's three-run homer in the second put the Cubs ahead 4-1. It was still 4-3 after seven, but the Kernels took control with a six-run eighth. Corcino and English each had a two-run double in the inning. The Cubs got two in the ninth but did not bring the tying run up to bat.
Of note: Zack Larson was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jorge Fernandez was 1-for-4 with a walk. Max Murphy was used as a pinch-hitter and walked, scoring once. Felix Jorge pitched 6.2 innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
DSL MARINERS 4, DSL TWINS 3 AT MARINERS
Batting stars: Francisco Hernandez was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs. Jean Carlos Arias was 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Gabriel A. Ynfante was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching stars: Andriu Marin struck out three in three innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks. Robener Cabrera pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Joseph Rosa was 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Jose Sandoval was 2-for-4 with two runs. Liarvis Breto struck out five in five innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk.
The game: The Mariners scored two in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Arias tripled in two in the third to cut the lead to 3-2. It was 4-3 after five. The Twins twice had the tying run on second, but could not bring him in.
Of note: Emmanuel Morel was 1-for-5 with a run. Antonio Tovar was 0-for-4. Edgar Herrera was 1-for-4. Brusdar Graterol struck out five in three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk.
