Minor Details: Games of June 21

Danny Santana's big day is not enough for the Red Wings.  Homers by Miguel Sano and Adam Brett Walker II carry the Lookouts.  Max Murphy's homer lifts the Kernels.

LOUISVILLE 3, ROCHESTER 2 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Danny Santana was 2-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring twice.  Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-4.  Eric Farris was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Pitching stars:  Pat Dean pitched 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts.  Alex Meyer struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  Caleb Thielbar pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Josh Satin was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his third.  Ryan LeMarre was 1-for-3 with a home run, his fourth.  Matt Buschmann pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts.

The game:  Danny Ortiz singled in a run in the first, but the Bats tied it in the third on LeMarre's homer and took a 3-1 lead in the fourth on Satin's two-run shot.  Santana tripled and scored in the seventh to cut the margin to 3-2 but the Red Wings would get no closer.

Of note:  James Beresford was 0-for-3 with an RBI.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a triple.  Danny Ortiz was 1-for-4 with an RBI.  Eric Fryer was used as a pinch-hitter and was 0-for-1.

CHATTANOOGA 6, JACKSONVILLE 5 IN CHATTANOOGA

Batting stars:  Miguel Sano was 1-for-3 with a three-run homer (his thirteenth) and a walk, scoring twice.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his nineteenth.  Levi Michael was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.

Pitching stars:  D. J. Baxendale struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  I don't know why he came out after three innings.  Brandon Peterson retired all seven batters he faced, striking out five of them.  J. T. Chargois pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.

Opposition stars:  Michael Morse was 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk, driving in three.  Kenny Wilson was 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Jarrad Cosart struck out six in five innings, allowing one run on three hits and six walks.

The game:  Travis Harrison singled in a run in the first, but Morse homered in the fourth to tie it 1-1.  Morse also had a two-run single in the fifth and the Suns added two in the top of the sixth to go up 5-1.  Iin the bottom of the sixth the Lookouts responded, getting a two-run homer from Walker II and a three-run shot from Sano to go ahead 6-5.  The Suns did not get a hit the rest of the game.

Of note:  Max Kepler was 0-for-2 with two walks.

FORT MYERS MIRACLE

CEDAR RAPIDS 5, CLINTON 2 IN CLINTON

Batting stars:  Max Murphy was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer (his fourth) and a double, scoring twice.  Alex Real was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs.  Rafael P. Valera was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Jared Wilson pitched four innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Randy Le Blanc pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits with two strikeouts.  Trevor Hildenberger pitched a perfect perfect inning, striking out all three men he faced.

Opposition stars:  Joseph DeCarlo was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Wayne Taylor was 2-for-4 with a run.  Chantz Mack was 2-for-4.

The game:  Each team scored once in the second.  Murphy hit a two-run homer in the third and the Kernels added two in the fifth to go ahead 5-1.  The LumberKings loaded the bases with none out in the eighth, but only scored one as their last six batters were retired, five of them by strikeout.

Of note:  Zack Larson was 0-for-4 with a walk.  Brett Doe was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.
