Gulf Coast League Preview

The Gulf Coast League got underway last night.  I had intended to publish this preview yesterday, but the day took a sideways turn around 10:00 a.m. and I never got back to it.

There are sixteen teams in the GCL, divided evenly into four divisions.  The teams take on the nicknames of their parent clubs.  The GCL Twins play in the Gulf Coast League South.

The teams play a sixty game schedule, ending August 29.  The four division winners go to the playoffs.  The first round is one game and the finals are best-of-three.

I would like to go through the Twins' roster with you, but as of Sunday milb.com still listed last year's roster and now it does not list any roster at all, so I guess we'll just have to pick it up on the fly.  The GCL Twins played their first game last night, so we'll cover it in Minor Details (which will be delayed because I have to catch up on some stuff I didn't get to yesterday because of the sideways turn thing).  Go Twins!
