Game 93: Twins @ AMR’s Favorite Team

Gibson (8-6, 2.85 ERA, 3.75 xFIP) vs. Shoemaker (4-7, 4.85 ERA, 4.03 xFIP)

The Twins continue their Minnesotans-can't-watch-because-the-games-are-on-too-late road trip to face the Angels. Gibson takes the mound to try to get the team back on track after a heart breaking loss followed by a game that I think we can all just ignore and pretend didn't happen.

I expect Lucroy and Tulowitzki to suit up tonight with David Price getting the start tomorrow. I also expect a lively game log with a 9pm game time.

  1. Forgot to mention this before but FanGraphs now projects the Twins to finish at .500 at 81-81. It would be a let down from even now; I'll still take it however.

  2. I would have expected AMR's favorite team to be the Orioles, the Blue Jays, or the Cardinals.

  3. Shoemaker with a bunch of strikeouts through 3 innings
Also has thrown over 50 pitches.

  4. what the heck just happened? I stepped out of the room for minute to be harangued by my daughter, only to return to commercials and Gameday frozen on "In play, run(s)"

  5. last chance to make something happen before I turn out the lights on this joint. C'mon, boys.

  6. Ok, that's all I can take tonight. If anyone else is still around, make sure you turn out the lights when you're done.

    1. I've got crap to do, so might as well keep it on as background chatter.

On a related note, I've mentioned I usually watch the game video with the radio broadcast as the audio (thank you, Sony). It's fun to compare what happens to how they actually describe it. What they ignore, what they over play, etc.

      1. I do the same when the Twins are the MLB free TV game. Not to compare, just that the radio team kicks Dick&Bert's butt.

If there's a silver lining to this rough spell, it's that it's late night and I'm not actually missing anything.

        1. Agreed. It's also handy because the radio is a few seconds ahead of the broadcast so if something interesting happens I have time to react to watch it unfold.

          1. true, although I find MLB Gameday on my phone being ahead of the radio broadcast handy for the corollary, that if something nasty happens I have time to walk away before it unfolds
