Minor Details: Games of September 13

Greg Peavey pitches six shutout innings to lead the Lookouts.  Nick Gordon and Chris Paul come through as the Kernels complete their second sweep.

CHATTANOOGA 7, MONTGOMERY 3 IN MONTGOMERY--FIRST ROUND, GAME THREE

Batting stars:  Shannon Wilkerson was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Stephen Wickens was 2-for-5 with a home run.

Pitching stars:  Greg Peavey pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and three walks with five strikeouts.  Jake Reed struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two walks.  D. J. Johnson pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Cameron Seitzer was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer.  Patrick Leonard was 0-for-2 with three walks and a run.  Jake Bauers was 1-for-4 with two walks.

The game:  Walker II hit a two-run homer in the second and the Lookouts scored two more in the third to go up 4-0.  It was 5-0 through six and a half, but two walks preceded a Seitzer homer in the bottom of the seventh that put the Biscuits back in the game.  The Lookouts got two of them back in the eighth on a two-run single by Wilkerson to regain control of the game.

Of note:  Jorge Polanco was 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Max Kepler was 1-for-4 with a walk.  Travis Harrison was 0-for-5 with an RBI.  D. J. Hicks was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

CEDAR RAPIDS 5, PEORIA 4 IN CEDAR RAPIDS--SEMI-FINALS, GAME TWO

Batting stars:  Nick Gordon was 3-for-5 with a double and a run.  Austin Diemer was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Chris Paul was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

Pitching stars:  Randy Rosario pitched six innings, giving up four unearned runs on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  Michael Theofanopoulos struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  Yorman Landa struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.

Opposition stars:  Harrison Bader was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Darren Seferina was 2-for-4 with a run.  Tyler Bray struck out two in a perfect inning.

The game:  The Chiefs scored four unearned runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead.  The Kernels chipped away, scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth to cut it to 4-3.  In the seventh, a single, a walk, a stolen base, and a passed ball tied the game and Paul delivered a two-out single to put Cedar Rapids in front.  The Chiefs got only two hits after the third inning.

Of note:  Rafael P. Valera was 1-for-4.  Edgar Corcino was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  T. J. White was 0-for-2 with two walks and a run.
