  1. The Wild haven't had it yet, but I'm so far enjoying 3 on 3 overtime hockey. Lots of potentially easy breakaways, but more thrilling than the now boring shootouts.

    1. The Wild had one, I think it was one of those West Coast games. They lost, but it was exciting!

      1. I started suggesting AJ as a platoon partner for Suzuki a month or more ago when I got excited about our chances for next year. I bet the marketing department would have some fun with that acquisition.

        1. Didn't Ozzy say that AJ is the kind of guy everybody hates, but you hate him a little less when he's on your team?

    1. I would LOVE for this to happen. I don't care if I lose the Prediction Contest by 20 points if that happens.

  2. While at Trader Joe's last week I discovered a Himalayan pink salt cooking block. Apparently, I haven't lived yet because the interwebs are all atwitter about the 'best' way to cook and season at the same time. I've got a mess of gulf shrimp and some scallops for dinner tonight. I'll report back with the results.

    1. I baked a bunch of shrimp on top of a bed of rock salt once, and it turned out really well. I'll be curious to see how the block version works out.

  3. Brandon Nimmo, the son of some old high school friends of mine that I've been following, finished his minor league season with 32 games in the PCL, covering center field for the Las Vegas 51s. A spring training injury slowed him down early and he started the season with a 4-game rehab stint at St. Lucie before moving up to AA Binghamton for 68 games. Over the course of the season he hit .269/.362/.372/.734, all very close to his career numbers to date, despite playing through a few injuries this year. At 22 he's now the Mets' third-highest rated prospect. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does next year and if he can wrangle a September call-up.

  4. I don't know if anyone's mentioned that Flip has said he's not coming back at all this season. I guess he had a setback in his cancer treatment. That doesn't sound good at all.
