Minor Details: Games of April 14

Kohl Stewart was pitcher of the day, but there were also strong starts by Pat Dean and Andro Cutura.  Fort Myers and Cedar Rapids each got a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first.  A big comeback for Chattanooga.

BUFFALO 2, ROCHESTER 1 IN BUFFALO

A seventh-inning RBI double by Junior Lake broke a 1-1 tie.  Pat Dean pitched a complete game, throwing ninety-four pitches and giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk and no strikeouts.  Buck Britton was 2-for-4 with a double.

CHATTANOOGA 11, JACKSON 8 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Lookouts trailed 8-2 after five but scored five in the sixth and four in the seventh.  in the sixth, four batters in a row either were walked or hit by pitches.  The seventh inning rally was also aided by two walks and two hit batsmen as well as two errors.  Mitch Garver was 2-for-3 with two walks and D. J. Hicks hit a two-run homer, his second.  Starter David Hurlbut lasted only four innings, giving up five runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

FORT MYERS 7, BREVARD COUNTY 2 IN FORT MYERS

Tanner English led off the bottom of the first with a home run, leading to a three-run inning and a Miracle win.  English was 2-for-4 on the day, as were Chad Christensen and Austin Diemer.  Kohl Stewart had an excellent game, striking out six in six shutout innings while allowing just one hit and one walk.  The Manatees did not score until the eighth.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, CLINTON 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels got three in the first to take a 3-1 lead and scored three more in the fifth to go up 6-2 and take control of the game.  Rafael P. Valera had a two-run triple in the fifth, part of his 2-for-4 day.  Luis Arraez led off the bottom of the first with a home run and went 3-for-4.  Andro Cutura pitched well, striking out six in six innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks.
