Minor Details: Games of April 15

An outstanding game by Alex Meyer.  Nick Gordon has a big day.

ROCHESTER 2, BUFFALO 1 IN BUFFALO

Jorge Polanco homered in the first and Alex Meyer took it from there, striking out eight in 6.1 shutout innings while giving up only three hits and walking none.  It was 2-0 through seven, but the Bisons got their lone run in the eighth and had the tying run on second with one out.  J. R. Graham got a couple of ground outs to get out of the jam.  Newly-acquired David Murphy was 2-for-4 and Wilfredo Tovar was 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the seventh.

JACKSON 6, CHATTANOOGA 3 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Generals scored two in the third and two in the sixth and never trailed on their way to the win.  Travis Harrison was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  T. J. White was 2-for-4 with a double.  Aaron Slegers pitched only four innings, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks with one strikeout.

FORT MYERS 6, DAYTONA 5 IN DAYTONA (10 INNINGS)

Nick Gordon's two-run homer in the eighth capped a comeback from a 4-1 deficit and put the Miracle ahead 5-4.  The Tortugas tied it in the bottom of the ninth, but doubles by Gordon and Trey Vavra brought home the go-ahead run in the tenth and Trevor Hildenberger shut the door in the bottom of the inning.  Gordon was 3-for-5 with three RBIs, raising his average to .400.  Tyler Jay pitched five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

CLINTON 11, CEDAR RAPIDS 5 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The LumberKings scored five in the first and never trailed on their way to victory.  The Kernels got to within two at 7-5 with a three-run fifth, but Luis Liberato's two-run double keyed a three-run Clinton seventh that put the game out of reach.  Sam Gibbons settled down after the first inning, but still allowed seven runs (four earned) on eleven hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 4.2 innings.  Luis Arraez was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second) to lead the offense.  He raised his average to .353.
