It was 1-1 after three, but the Red Sox scored in each of the next four innings to build a 9-1 lead. Pat Dean had a tough go, getting through five innings with five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Loek Van Mil hasn't pitched well all year and didn't in this game, either, allowing four runs on six hits in 1.2 innings to raise his ERA to 24.30 in 3.1 innings (four games). The Red Wings had only four hits, with one of them a home run by David Murphy.
MISSISSIPPI 7, CHATTANOOGA 4 IN MISSISSIPPI
The Braves scored four in the second and led the rest of the way. The Lookouts got within 6-4 in the eighth and had two on with one out, but a foul out and a strikeout ended the inning. Starter David Hurlbut lasted only 3.1 innings, surrendering five runs (four earned) on nine hits and one walk with three strikeouts. The Lookouts drew six walks but had only five hits, with no one getting more than one.
FORT MYERS 2, JUPITER 1 IN FORT MYERS
Chris Paul's sacrifice fly brought Tanner English home in the eighth to put the Miracle up 2-1. Stephen Gonsalves struck out eight in seven innings, giving up one run on only two hits and a walk. Trevor Hildenberger pitched two shutout innings. Alex Swim was the only batter on either team to get more than one hit, going 2-for-4. Nick Gordon was 0-for-3, dropping his average to .353.
BURLINGTON 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN BURLINGTON
Hutton Meyer's leadoff triple in the seventh led to the tie-breaking run, putting the Bees up 2-1, and a two-run single by Angelo Amendolare keyed a three-run eighth that put the game out of reach. Randy LeBlanc pitched very well, going seven innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts. No Kernel had more than one of the team's seven hits. LaMonte Wade went 0-for-4 to drop his average to .375.
