Game 119: Minnesota at Atlanta

Maybe we didn’t fare so well a couple of weeks ago against our arch enemy from Atlanta.  I guess 25 years of pent up frustration over the 1991 World Series finally came to the surface and those dang Barves weren’t going to give us any quarter.  Well now it’s payback time gentlemen and it will be the Twins’ turn to look for a little revenge.  Given that it will be the last time the Twins will visit Turner Field, let’s just say the emotion’s going to be turned up to 11 on this one.

Ervin Santana on the mound versus something called Joel De La Cruz and his 0-5, 4.09 ERA.  First pitch at 6:10 Central

  1. Barring injury, Joe Mauer is on pace to have his highest Runs Scored season since 2012.

  2. They can make fun of Santana's batting, but he was the only Twin who made contact that inning.

  3. It's kind of amazing that two of the 2001 "Get to Know 'Em" Twins are still around: Pierzynski and David Ortiz.

  4. Provus and Dazzle are talking about Sano's need to get work at third base. It strikes me that he could be a lot farther along if someone hadn't had the bright idea for him to play the outfield last winter and the first half of this season.

  5. Is Danny Santana really a significantly better defensive outfielder than Robbie Grossman?

    1. Santana hasn't enough innings in LF to really get any kind of read on it, but so far he's been just a little below average. Grossman has been brutal. He's pretty much given back in the field what he's done at the plate. Plus, Santana definitely is faster and has a better throwing arm.
