Here's what I had back in April:
Zack: 8/19 through 9/9
Can of Corn: 9/16 through 10/21
Philosopher: 10/28 through 12/2
I think Zack may have been thrown off by the site's vacation last weekend. I'm taking today; I can give you two weeks in December if you want them, Z.

I've been reading bits of Freaky Trigger's essays about every British Number 1. (They just finished 2001!) I've mostly 1990-forward about those about songs I'm familiar with. One of the most recent ones had this passage I really like:
What pop does better than anything else does is to take feelings and situations, and crush and simplify them, making them immediate and thrilling and useful. It applies no moral filter. People feel self-righteous and wrathful, and so ultimately pop will product songs that are diamonds of self-righteousness and wrath.
("Pop" sensu lato here.) I think I've tried to express similar thoughts (but much less succinctly) about pop and emotions (though not necessarily those emotions).
From the same review, I love this line, which is more particularly about the song in question: "a church-inspired song that celebrates the dark joy of excommunication."

1. The "Lady who came from Duluth": MN or GA?
2. I took out the cussing so I could share with my kids. "The sun don't take no bull/ either." Two other cuts, four seconds removed, all in all pretty seamless. I'm quite satisfied with it. Dave Aju's got two more albums since I last checked and another EP with the Invisible Art Trio. I should check into that.
3. "Tobira no Mukou e" or "扉の向こうへ", the Closing theme for season 2 of "Fullmetal Alchemist" (original series).
4. Solo work from Ilpo Väisänen of Pan
asonic8. Full Title: "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (Theme from NBC's 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air')"
9. This sounds old, 1966-1973. But I think the band is from now. So: pastiche?
1. The "Lady who came from Duluth": MN or GA?
I've always wondered that.
They just needed some place-name that rhymed with "tooth"...
9. This sounds old, 1966-1973. But I think the band is from now. So: pastiche?
Wow, I'd completely assumed the song was a few decades old. I see the Repository does state that their first album was "heavily influenced by the vocal harmony styles and production of The Beach Boys." (Note: "Summer Days, Summer Nights" is from their second album, Grand Hotel.)
Huh. Me too.
1- Sweet Spirit "Baby When I Close My Eyes" *Cokomo - Perfect power pop featuring one of the best front-women in the business, Sabrina Ellis. While you're at it, check out her other band, A Giant Dog.

5- Ravi Shavi "Great Escape" *Independent - Garage rock is alive and well.
6- Shannon and the Clams "You Will Always Bring Me Flowers" *Sleep Talk - Revival!

Now there's a list.

That's the brightest, shiniest AMR signal I've seen around here yet.
It was cutesier than I expected.
I don't know about this new guy.
Never trust those outsiders. Is there a hive mind here, too?
(Hope all is well.)
A hive mind would imply organisation.

Love that Blondie track. The original is one of my favorite songs. The Nerves' version is jusssst a little more angsty, the guitar a bit more reverby, and they beat the Mats to the punch by a good 5-or-so years.
I like that your list is bookended by blondness. (Even if I'm extremely perplexed and distressed by the fact that the official title of Mr. Ocean's new album is not spelled the same way it appears on the album cover.)
Re: Blond vs Blonde
I consider whatever the packaging says on the spine to be the official title.
Because I've had albums with differences between that, the front, the back, the disc/tape.
Don't you mean Blond on Blonde?
