November 2, 2016: Big Game

I'm ready to watch the big sporting event tonight! The Toledo Rockets at Akron Zips game is going to be the kind of matchup between two 2nd place Mid-American Conference teams that people wait a whole lifetime to see.

  1. I had a dream last night that philosofer invited me to his church baseball league, which was him and one girl and they used ghosties and played 1-inning games. He beaned me in the side on this first pitch, then gave up a 2 run homer to the girl.

        1. I don't think I've had any dreams about you guys that I haven't met in person. I've known philosofer for 24 years so it's a bit different

  2. You may have noticed that "Winter Wonderland" did not appear yesterday. It will not appear today, either. Tomorrow? Well, that depends on how today goes. Sorry about that.

    1. On the one hand, the offense has been terrible. On the other hand, I could just about find my way through the offensive line and into the backfield, so...best of luck to the next guy?

        1. That statement assumes football fans are reasonable. I am aware of instances where that was not the case.

    2. Did I know he was the Vikings O.C. before this?
As if choking in the postseason (or the pre-postseason) was not predetermined enough already!

  3. Looks like there's a decent chance I could be available for lunch in downtown St. Paul on Friday, if there would be interest in some sort of mini-caucus.

    1. Lunch!?! I was just posting about the surprisingly good Noodles&Co. tomato basil bisque I'm currently enjoying!
Not at my desk to confirm, but I could probably make it to lunch on Fri.

                1. I maintain my innocence. He was hanging all over the plate. It was a preemptive strike, given the impending home run. I didn't have enough time to warm up. The ball slipped.

  4. I thought the Wolves made a mistake drafting Zach Lavine, thought he was one of those super athletic guys that wouldn't figure out how to play basketball.

Sure, it's only 3 games but man he's already so much better than I ever expected (but even last season surprised me). He can shoot and has a coach that encourages launching 3s, his athleticism is as advertised and who knows, maybe he'll even figure out defense some day down the road. Nice job snagging him at #13 overall, Flip.

  5. Oof, this is my first time seeing the pregame show. Part of me wonders if all the praise for A-Rod is simply because he's sitting next to Pete Rose and Tom Verducci.
