  1. wattsy linked to it yesterday, but it might've gotten buried: Grady's the new bench coach in Arizona.

  2. Gimme Shelter was an appropriate song to come on when driving through armageddon on 394 this morning.

    1. Holy crap coming in from Wright Co. was tricky. Then right when I got to the office, it opened up even more.

      1. It wasn't nearly as bad in Gettysburg as predicted. Only about an inch of snow. Very windy, though, and because the snow melted and then froze the roads are icy. I'm hoping the ice will melt as the day gets warmer.

        1. Same down here. <1" of snow, but very windy. Rain overnight, which is making the snow even more wet, and will end up frozen before too long.

  3. Wednesday evening on the way to choir I noted gas prices to be $1.64 or so. On the way home from choir, said prices were ~$2.09...guess who was planning on getting gas on the way home from choir. On a good note, I still have 55 miles left on this tank, and I've only filled once since I got the car on July 1st.

Temps were still in the 70s when I went to bed at ten last night.

The elderly neighbors next door had their three Bradford Pears along the back fence line and the large Pin Oak in the front trimmed way back. My raking duties this fall are now less than a quarter what they would have been.

This ends the news from St. Charles.

    1. So rather than trading Plouffe! last year, we now let him go for nothing. We also traded Aaron Hicks (who granted, didn't do much) for nothing. Thanks, Terry Ryan.

But, since Falvey couldn't go back in time a year, good for him for making the necessary moves now.

        1. Well, we still have a chance to get something for Hicks, then. I take back that part of what I said.

As for Walker II, I'm emotionally sorry to see him go, but it's hard for me to think a guy who strikes out that much is ever going to make it. Even guys like Dave Kingman and Rob Deer, who struck out a ton, didn't strike out that much. Somebody will probably pick him up, though, and I'll still be rooting for him.

      1. I think dropping Plouffe made sense at $8mm arb number. Wish they would have traded him last year.

        1. For me it was the lack of a Plouffe trade that was the fatal blow for TR. I gave him a lot of leeway, but that one... befuddled me. Hopefully I said so at the time too, and this isn't just my hindsight being 20/20.

          1. Doogie saying Twins tried mid-season and got crickets. Wonder what result would have been this time last year.

            1. At mid-season, Plouffe was injured. I'm not surprised they couldn't get anything for him at that point.

    2. Plouffe? NOOOOOOOO!

actually, I'm glad prepared for inevitable departure during season. He'll always one my favorite Twins.

    1. He had a fluky offensive year least season. While he has a great defensive reputation, his pitch-framing stats have been below average a little bit. Probably would be an improvement for the Twins but not enough to offset his usual lack of offense.

    1. She was one of the featured artists in Luke Cage. She looked good. I was under the impression she was getting better.

      1. Second time around with cancer is always bad. The fact that she knew that and still projected her energy into the world amazes & heartens me, even as I'll miss her voice & musical genius.
