Minor Details: Games of June 15

Zack Granite just keeps hitting.  Stephen Gonsalves settles down after giving up a first-inning homer.  A sweep for the Miracle.  Clark Beeker struggles for the Kernels.

ROCHESTER 8, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 2 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE

The Red Wings put together five singles in the fourth inning to score three times and take a 4-1 lead.  It was 4-2 going to the ninth, when Leonardo Reginatto delivered a two-run single to cap a four-run inning and put the game out of reach.

Aaron Slegers got back on track, striking out five in five innings and giving up one run on six hits and two walks.  Trevor Hildenberger struck out two in two shutout innings to make his ERA 2.33.  He has 30 strikeouts and 7 walks in 27 innings.  Reginatto was 3-for-5.  Zack Granite stayed hot, going 2-for-3 with two walks to make his average .338.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Mitch Garver was 2-for-5 with a double.

TENNESSEE 4, CHATTANOOGA 1 IN TENNESSEE

Jason Vosler hit a two-run homer in the first inning to put the Smokies in front 2-0.  The Lookouts got one back in the fifth, but that was as close as they would come.  Tennessee got single runs in the sixth and eighth to put the game out of reach.

Stephen Gonsavles struck out ten in seven innings, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk.  Ryan Walker was 2-for-3 with a double.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-5 and is batting .315.  Edgar Corcino was 0-for-4 and is batting .300.  T. J. White was 0-for-3 and is batting .310.  Chattanooga had only four hits.

FORT MYERS 3, CHARLOTTE 2 IN FORT MYERS (GAME 1--9 INNINGS--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

The Stone Crabs scored two in the third to take a 2-0 lead.  The Miracle scored once in the fourth on a wild pitch and tied it in the sixth on Sean Miller's RBI single.  It went into extra innings, and in the ninth Fort Myers opened the innings with two singles.  The next two batters went out, but an error on the Charlotte first baseman allowed the winning run to score.

David Fischer walked seven in five innings, but gave up just two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.  Anthony McIver struck out two in two shutout innings to make his ERA 2.53.  Williams Ramirez struck out three in two shutout innings to make his ERA 2.01.  He has 35 strikeouts in 31.1 innings.  Alex Perez was 2-for-4 with a double.  Miller and Brian Navarreto were each 2-for-4.

FORT MYERS 3, CHARLOTTE 1 IN FORT MYERS (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

The Miracle scored on a double play in the first and got a two-run double from Rafael P. Valera in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead.  The Stone Crabs scored their lone run in the seventh and did not get the tying run on base.

Cody Stashak struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  He threw 74 pitches.  Jonny Drozd pitched a scoreless inning.  Kevin Garcia was 2-for-3 and is batting .313.

QUAD CITIES 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 4 IN QUAD CITIES

The Kernels were down 4-2, but scored two in the eighth to tie it at four.  In the ninth, however, a double, a single, and an infield single put the River Bandits in front to stay.  Cedar Rapids went down in order in the bottom of the ninth.

Clark Beeker, who has pitched well most of the season, struggled for the second consecutive time, going 4.2 innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Max Cordy pitched 1.1 scoreless innings.  Colton Davis pitched a perfect inning to make his ERA 1.50.  Jaylin Davis was 3-for-4 with a double.  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-4 with a triple and a double.  Jermaine Palacios was 2-for-4 and is batting .324.

  1. I've never looked it that closely before, but that Rochester Redwing is bad ass. I wonder if it's hopped up on AGH?

    1. Does this make it official that the Red Wings have a better bullpen than the Twins? They've got Reed, Melotakis, Hildenberger and Pressly. Too bad Chargois is hurt or there really wouldn't be much debate.
