VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Willians Astudillo (Anzoategui) was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, his third.

ZULIA 6, LARA 4 IN LARA

Trailing 3-1, Zulia scored three in the sixth to go into the lead to stay.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk.  For Lara, Ildemaro Vargas and Rangel Ravelo were each 3-for-5.  Cesar Jimenez pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out one.

ANZOATEGUI 7, CARACAS 2 IN CARACAS

Luis Hernandez doubled home a run in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie and Willians Astudillo hit a three-run homer in a four-run ninth that put the game out of reach.  Luis Jimenez was 3-for-4 with a home run (his eighth) and two doubles.  Daryl Thompson pitched 6.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk and striking out two.  Wilfredo Tovar was 3-for-4 for Caracas.  Luis Diaz struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on three hits and three walks.

MAGALLANES 6, ARAGUA 2 IN ARAGUA

Magallanes scored one in the third and two in the fifth, leading all the way.  Aragua cut it to 3-2 in the sixth, but Magallanes got one in the seventh and two in the eighth.  Ronny Cedeno hit for the cycle, going 4-for-5 with a single, double, triple, and home run, his second.  Alex Sanabia pitched five shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks with no strikeouts.

MARGARITA 3, LA GUAIRA 1 IN MARGARITA

Leonardo Reginatto singled home a run in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie and Jose Osuna doubled in an insurance run in the seventh.  Omar Bencomo pitched eight innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk and striking out seven.  For La Guaira, Edgmer Escalona pitched six innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out one.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  None.

MEXICALI 1, HERMOSILLO 0 IN MEXICALI

Francisco Cordoba singled in the game's only run in the fifth.  Sergio Mitre struck out eight in seven shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks.  For Hermosillo, Ryan Verdugo pitched seven innings, giving up one run on six hits and two walks and striking out five.

NAVOJOA 2, JALISCO 1 IN NAVOJOA

With one out in the second, Navojoa got four consecutive singles and a walk to score all the runs they needed.  Tyler Kane struck out six in five shutout innings, giving up one hit and five walks.  For Jalisco, Octavio Acosta struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and three walks.

OBREGON 7, CULIACAN 3 IN CULIACAN

Barbaro Canizares hit a three-run homer in the first inning and Obregon led all the way.  Culiacan cut the lead to 4-3 after six, but Obregon scored three more in the ninth.  Pablo Ortega pitched six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out none.

LOS MOCHIS 1, MAZATLAN 0 IN MAZATLAN

It was scoreless until the ninth, when Ramon Urias hit a one-out triple and scored on Olmo Rosario's single.  Luis Perez pitched eight shutout innings, giving up two hits and three walks and striking out three.  For Mazatlan, Oscar Verdugo pitched eight shutout innings, giving up four hits and striking out four.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Kennys Vargas (Aguilas) was 0-for-4.

ESTRELLAS 4, AGUILAS 3 AT AGUILAS

The Estrellas scored three in the fifth to go ahead 4-0.  The Aguilas cut the lead to 4-3 in the ninth and had the tying run on second.  Nik Turley pitched five shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out four.

TOROS 4, GIGANTES 3 AT TOROS

Jeimer Candelario hit a two-run homer in a three-run first as the Toros led all the way.  The Gigantes cut the lead to 4-3 in the ninth and had the tying run in scoring position with one out.  Elih Villanueva pitched five shutout innings, giving up seven hits and striking out four.  Miguel Andujar hit a two-run homer for the Gigantes.

ESCOGIDO 7, LICEY 2 IN LICEY

Patrick Kivlehan hit a three-run double in a four-run first and Escogido led all the way.  It was the only hit Escogido had in the inning, as they were aided by three walks and an error.  Kivlehan was 2-for-4 and had four RBIs.

AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE

Twins:  Aaron Whitefield (Brisbane) was 1-for-5 with three walks.  Logan Wade (Brisbane) was 1-for-7.

PERTH 8, SYDNEY 4 IN SYDNEY (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Perth scored four in the first and led all the way.  Sydney cut the lead to 5-4 in the fourth, but Perth got two in the sixth and one in the seventh.  Jesse Williams was 3-for-4.

PERTH 7, SYDNEY 4 IN SYDNEY (GAME 2)

Trailing 4-2, Perth got a three-run homer from Tim Kennelly in the fifth and added two more runs in the seventh.  Kennelly's home run was his third.  Luke Hughes also hit a home run, his fourth.

MELBOURNE 2, BRISBANE 1 IN MELBOURNE (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

A sacrifice fly in the sixth broke a 1-1 tie.  Tomoya Mori was 2-for-2 with a home run.  Kona Takahashi struck eleven in 5.1 innings, giving up one run on five hits and four walks.  Mitch Nilsson hit a home run for Brisbane, his fourth.

MELBOURNE 3, BRISBANE 2 IN MELBOURNE (GAME 2--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS--8 INNINGS)

The goofy "start with men on first and second rule" decides another game, as a single and a hit batsman were all Melbourne needed to bring home the winning run.  Josh Tols struck out nine in five shutout innings of relief for Melbourne, giving up one hit and three walks.
