    1. They turned out ok, a little on the dry side. But that can be cured with a scoop of ice cream.

  1. Had a fun weekend of curling with ch. We did pretty good, getting to the first event quarterfinals. Ch only fell once! Interestingly, I had the more brutal fall on Friday and not my head on the ice. But other than that, it was a good time.

    1. It got quiet in there fast when you went down. You rallied pretty darn well for a guy with a concussion. I got pretty lucky in that spill into that guard — it basically went right between my legs as I slid, but I had my leg folded under me, so it couldn’t go anywhere, uh, delicate. I think I’ll credit that positioning to a catcher’s latent instincts from blocking the plate.

I had a great time — many thanks for inviting me. I’ll be dreaming about that brisket on Saturday evening for a good while.

      1. Is be remiss if I forgot to mention it, but Mr. Ch here does have himself a draw doubt into the pin.

But yeah, the spot I landed on is still a bit tender. Fortunately I don't shave my head because I'd have a big old bruise.

      1. eh, it was petty*. from what i heard of the role (not the performance), didn't seem like it should be rewarded. also i wanted jenkins to win.

*i've seen like nothing this year.

    1. i'm, like, eighteenth on this site for liking movies, but the only one posting. it's like you all have better things to do with your families or something.

      1. We watched, like we do every year. But, also as is the norm for us, we DVRed it and watched it delayed by 1-1.5 hours, plus a pause to get the kids to bed.

After watching Shape of Water last night, I’d say I would put it third in my own rankings (behind Get Out and Ladybird), but they were close enough that I’m fine with it winning.

      1. Agreed. I would have liked to see it win director or best picture, but I don’t think it was completely robbed by clearly inferior movies, either.

        1. I'm just glad Three Billboards didn't win Best Picture. Looking forward to watching the human/fish relations movie when it's out on Blu-ray next week.
